  • Summary: At the beginning of last century, a young Leonard Percival Howell left Jamaica, became a Marine and traveled the world. During his travels, he was exposed to Reggae. Howell returned to Jamaica in 1939 and founded the first Rasta commune, the Pinnacle. There the culture of Reggae was developed and spread around the world, going on to influence the likes of Bob Marley and others. (Niz!) Expand

    The movement defies definition and thus invites it. And yeah, the music is pretty good.

    While The First Rasta never goes beyond the surfaces of conventional documentary making of the most average kind, its reticence becomes whimsical every time the elderly interviewees break into song soon after reminiscing.
