    Somewhat overstylized and deliberately enigmatic, The Girl won't appeal to everyone. But its ambition and beauty ultimately triumph over pretense.

    What you'll remember most are a pretty face and the hot and steamy sex scenes. That is not enough.

    Like the film's characters, the city of Paris has been made faceless, as if it too were merely the pawn in a representational hell where light and color and shading are forbidden.
