  • Starring: Alexis Bledel, Bryan Greenberg, Scott Porter
  • Summary: Ambitious young Manhattanite and urban conservationist Beth wants it all: a good job, good friends, and a good guy to share the city with. Of course that last one is often the trickiest of all. In the new romantic dramedy, Beth falls hard for Tommy, a sexy, young Wall Street hot-shot. But just as everything seems to be falling into place, complications arise in the form of Tommy's sensitive and handsome co-worker Daniel. Beth soon learns that the game of love in the big city is a lot like Wall Street - high risk, high reward and everybody has an angle. (Roadside Attractions) Expand

It has smart characters, and is wise about the ones who try to tame their intelligence by acting out.

Like its characters, Good Guy is sharp, fun and pleasant to behold, and its recreational, apartment and workplace locales are appropriately slick and showy.
  3. DePietro struggles to reconcile the perceived demands of the romantic comedy genre (though his film is more bittersweet than most) and the tang and hustle and detail of real life.
  4. 38
It’s network television drama, starring actors best known for their TV work and full of the petty gripes and mild worries of characters who really have nothing compelling to worry about.

Really well acted, especially Aexis Bledel and Bryan Greenberg. Andrew McCarthy has his best role in years. It's subtle and very well done. I found the pacing to be excellent, the plot develops very steadily and it always held my interest. I enjoyed the score, it's well photographed too. I found it convincingly done, the characters develop nicely. A good film. Expand
