Black comedies don't get much darker than this.
It's a clammy, odd duck of a movie, a black comedy that seems strangely content with merely being morbid.
Should have been either darker or funnier. Or both.
The two leads capably humanize an overdetermined screenplay that often fumbles with bludgeoning symbolism and rank sentimentality.
Neither funny nor outrageous nor horrifying nor conventionally affecting.
