The Holiday is the type of welcome diversion that only Meyers still seems to specialize -- a romantic comedy where Barbara Stanwyck and Rosalind Russell would have been just as natural as Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet and where the one liners fly like confetti.
  2. Despite this familiarity-wallow, The Holiday is likable. Really likable, in fact.

A lavishly overstuffed gift basket of a movie.

Meyers can write a good zinger, and she has a knack for casting actors who not only look good in bed, but are talented enough to rise above the material and, in some cases, nearly transform it (save Diaz). But make no mistake: We're a long way here from Ben Hecht and Preston Sturges.
  5. The Holiday is a 131-minute romantic comedy for those who, if they had their way, would still be watching "Love Actually."

A lark, with pretensions to be more.
  7. 20
This overproduced romantic comedy doesn't even qualify as fluff; it's flat, featureless plastic.

Never have I ever had a musical score move me like this one. It fits the story so well. It brings the characters to life in a way that is absolutely indescribable. It takes a movie that would be maybe a 7 and converts it to a strong 10. Expand

The Holiday is one my all-time favorite rom-coms. At a seemingly lengthy 2 hours and 15 minutes, a typical romantic comedy would crumble and overstay its welcome; thankfully, The Holiday is not your typical rom-com. It features some strong central performances by actors that have great chemistry together. The result is a wholly satisfying film where you actually care about the characters involved. Expand

This movie was way to sappy. It was too much of a romantic story that could have branched off. Kate Winslet and jack Black's story line as far more interesting than the other side. Expand
