The Hunger Games: Catching Fire more than makes the case for this as a franchise that's going to get better as it goes, and I am genuinely excited to see how they wrap it up.
The screen translation of Catching Fire, the second volume of the series, offers its audience many of the elements that made The Hunger Games compelling, but adds to that by deepening the themes and emotional currents and traveling to darker destinations.

Catching Fire is a great leap forward for the franchise. Seeing as it’s all about hope and what it represents, here’s hoping the next two are just as good, if not better.
Everything that felt clumsy in The Hunger Games has been improved upon here. That's most apparent in the clarity of the action, but it also extends to how efficiently the film establishes so many new ensemble members.
Catching Fire is bigger, better and broodier than the first film.
The Hunger Games franchise, both in print and onscreen, has been exceptionally clever about cozying away imaginative space for fans to fill in the blanks and cast themselves in the rich drama. That this latest film leaves us hungering for more only means that it’s working.
Deep thoughts about re-directing cynically manipulated celebrity, lump in the throat moments at people rising up against their oppressors, a couple of memorable deaths and attempts at sacrifice play as flat when there’s nothing around them to serve as contrast.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire improves upon its predecessor with more of the tension driven action through the emotionally clinging characters while taking the film series into a new and exciting direction by an awe-inspiring moment.

I have a really mixed feelings on Catching Fire because of the lackness of the story, even though there are a lot of things in Catching Fire that are better than the first one, from the chemistry and the acting was better, the CGI was better, and the new supporting actor that are for me personally better than the first one, and what makes it still pretty much disappoint me was that the overall story and phasing, it just wasn't as engaging as before, and it still be good if the story was still ok but i'm not really digging it this time, and so it makes me feel whatever, and the slow phasing makes it at times pretty boring, though again there is still a lot of parts that i enjoy and like, again in terms of performances, characters, and the looks of the film was really good, the score was amazing, overall while it still have the good stuff Catching Fire wasn't as engaging and as well structured as the first one.

Another boring movie. This whole fake relationship thing too is really annoying. The movie would be better without that. It kind of ruins the movie for me.

Surpreendeu-me o fato de que é relativamente uma franquia bem-sucedida, fora que os quatro filmes saíram ano a ano, de 2012 a 2015. Imagino que em 2012 mesmo houve o anúncio da sequel, o que, em tese, abranda os problemas que o primeiro traz, o que não os elimina. Aqui o enredo opta por abandonar o jogo e focar em toda a política por detrás do império, o controle e a possibilidade de rebelião, então pode-se dizer que é a preparação mental e estrutural para a protagonista e o cenário que precisamos para o encerramento do enredo. Embora agora haja um foco maior em uma reta funcional, ela é como uma teia do Homem-Aranha: frágil DEMAIS para a imaginarmos como algo real. Tudo o que acontece aqui é só uma base para tornar verossímil tudo o que vem no após, porém não há verossimilhança para o que já está aqui. É abrupto e superficial sobremaneira. E a cena final é péssima. Perdi a vontade de continuar a franquia, devo dizer.

Here is a sequel that lives up to the hype of the original. The Hunger Games: Saving Peeta is a worthy sequel to a really awful first installment. Equally as bad, this sequel features terrible acting, even worse writing, and a stupidly inane plot that shows Katniss rebelling against everyone she encounters and pouting for two and a half hours. Before I go further, Liam Hemsworth is a horrifically bad actor. Whew lad does he ever ****. The film is an entirely grating experience featuring the weirdo hair designs of the first film. Even worse though, it strands its actors in a hopeless wasteland of ineptitude that even the best actor would struggle to find success in. Ultimately, this feels more like a bloody version of Gossip Girl than it does a truly engaging dystopian science fiction film, which I feel like is not the goal. The dialogue is cringe-inducing and falls flat nearly 100% of the time. The ending is telegraphed from the start, so when it finally happens, you are left to roll your eyes and thank God it is over. Overall, Catching Fire is a bad movie that does have good special effects, but fails in every other arena. If this film were in the Hunger Games, it would be die second. The original would die first.
