Dec 30, 201110I wish the critics would restrict their comments to the movie and not Margret Thacher. We should be rating the move not her politics! Grade the movie and it's actors not the politics of the time. Please restrict your opinions to the movies not the politics of the time. It really makes you look stupid..

Jan 2, 20126The Iron Lady is a surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century's most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.

Feb 11, 20128Ah! Don't expect much from this movie! Meryl Streep's performance as Thatcher is distracted by movie quality. But don't worry, it's not just Streep's performance, it's the story about Thatcher and her controversial and strong leadership. But Thatcher deserves better biopic.

Jan 15, 20120Just sucks... What? I need 150 characters? I felt that writing "Just Sucks" would be more than enough but obviously I must say more. It REALLY does just sucks.

Jan 14, 20125Too much time spent on Margaret Thatcher's present year. What a bore! It's not a bad idea to start her at present time and use that to reflect the story in her prime years, but the frequent jumping back to the present time was unnecessary. The too frequent talk between her and her deceased husband became too gimmicky. Meryl Streep was superb as usual but she was wasted in this dull film.
-
Jan 2, 20128This is not a traditional biopic but I enjoyed the artistic liberties. I was surprised the amount of time spent in current day Thatcher. My only complaint is not enough Prime Minister day scenes, but still effective and Streep is beyond amazing. She literally plays two different roles.

Jan 5, 20125Highlight of movie is Meryl Streep's personification of Maggie Thatcher. Brilliant in every way-voice ,appearance,mannerisms....oscar award winner Lowlight is too much focus on Thatchers declining mental state.
The Iron Lady achieved so much and the movie skims over this...what a shame. Not only is this aspect overdone but minimises her life. Maggie Thatcher deserved more for a Biopic!!! -
Feb 13, 20127The Iron Lady is a biographical movie, but that does not make it less interesting. The film shows the rise and fall of Margaret Thatcher, the first female Prime Minister of England. This woman grew up with a political vocation, but she lives in a menâ

Feb 4, 20125Yes i knew how this movie will turn out, the only think worth watching about this movie was Meryl Streep and Meryl Streep only. She really played her part with utmost honesty and dedication and it shows tremendously on screen however the movie turned out pretty bland with them trying to over stuff Thatcher's life with silly formulaic scenes and situations that kills the entire mood of the movie.
-
Jan 30, 20124Focussed on all the wrong things. Whether you admire or loath her, I would rather have watched a film that centered on what she thought and did rather than sheer, unapologetic speculation of her current illness which, in my opinion, are *not* the most interesting aspects of her life. Half of the film depicts hallucinations that never possibly happened - I mean, who knows....
-
Feb 8, 20120This film is utterly unsatisfying.
Not even slightly entertaining, some of the performances were utterly laughable, and the script was horrifyingly bad. -
Feb 26, 20126The whole story was not bad but it didn't really hit the spot. I don't know maybe it's just me. The acting was really good but the ending was a bit anti-climatic. I was expecting more to happen at the end of the movie. In fact, it wasn't just me. The audience the in cinema didn't move until 2 minutes after the credits rolled. I guess, we all expected more.
-
May 11, 20125A great performance by Streep who does her chameleon brilliance. The story however makes a fundamental error which sinks it. The decision to spend half the time in Thatcher's dotage (so Meryl can show off her prosthetics??) instead of giving us a decent biopic makes the movie dull and nothing but a set piece for some of her speeches and harangues. They should have called this "The Lead Lady."

Mar 12, 20123I actually sat through this movie several times mainly because I was so taken aback by how much I loathed it the first time that I watched it again to try and understand why. On the second viewing, I actually liked it better and this is mainly due to the performances of the younger Margaret and Denis. I directly blame the director and screenwriter for this train wreck of a movie.
-
Jan 8, 20127Meryl Streep is possibly the best actress of our generation. In this biographical film, she portrays Thatcher brilliantly: her posture, her voice, her facial expressions and movements. She made the Iron Lady... likeable :-)
-
Jan 13, 20138For some, Mrs Thatcher is portrayed far too sympathetically and the film puts her tenure as Prime Minister in a much better light than is might deserve. I didn

Jul 9, 20128The film itself is not really a masterpiece, but only for the very good interpretation of Mrs.Thatcher I give a good rating to this movie, Merryl Streep is simply fantastic
-
May 2, 20127The Iron Lady is an entertaining and well made bio-pic but isn't reveletory. Meyrl Streep is excellent, as is the supporting cast. Kudos as well for not judging Thatcher but objectively showing both her good and bad sides.

Jun 23, 20126The Iron Lady is an average film which relies only on the glorious performance from Meryl Streep. Due to its dull script and somewhat little emotionally appealing the film can not sustain alone and needs other means to get poignant. The dramatic appeal is that the film has taken more into account than the historical context of Thatcher

Apr 29, 20125Although Meryl Streep's performance is quite strong the film will alienate half of it's viewers because it plays more like a campaign video for the right wing then a bio pic. Although I am conservative myself I cannot just like a film because I agree with it's philosophies.

Feb 9, 20129What a fantastic movie! You can truly feel, what's inside Mrs Thatcher! Even if you don't like her political decisions, you cannot do not to feel sad for her. There are a bit few historical scenes, but they are strong enough to forget about this, and with the touching "old lady" scenes, it's really one of the greatest movies of the year, even if 2011 is not as strong as 2010 in movies.

Feb 19, 20129Great, great, superb performance by Meryl Streep...
But as Roger Ebert said, her talent is squandered here... This movie is ruined by other circumstances...
Still I enjoyed it though... -

May 2, 20125The Iron Lady brings some important ideas to the national debate today but the movie didn't focus on the important things about the woman. I would rather have watched a film that centered on what she thought and did rather than her current illness.
-
Aug 27, 20125Meryl is great, not that anybody would expect anything else. The movie was pretty bland no matter what you feel about her politics. It seemed like a documentary being reenacted. I wasn't crazy about the constant back and forth too. It still delivered though.
-
Apr 20, 20127A divine performance from Meryl Streep keeps this pictures head above water. It' solid but in need of some major reconstructing. The two supporting players; Jim Broadbent and Olivia Colman, are equally superb and provide the comedy that is much needed.
-
Apr 24, 20126The only reason to watch the "The Iron Lady" is for Meryl Streep' incredible performance She single handedly elevates the material and makes this film go from a sub-par film to a pleasant one.

Dec 7, 20124The Iron Lady is an uninteresting film about an interesting figure. Meryl Streep is great, no surprise there. What is a surprise is how forgettable both this film (and performance) are.
-
Dec 9, 20127Anchored by another fantastic performance by Meryl Streep the film is an entertaining, although politically sketchy, biography of Margaret Thatcher. It works mainly as a vehicle for its fascinating lead thesp who is totally compelling. The third oscar she recieved was about time and well deserved, as was the statuette awarded to the excellent Make up.
-
50The Iron Lady is a performance in search of a film.
-
50Can a performance be too good? Meryl Streep disappears so uncannily into former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady that her performance overpowers the movie it's in - a perfectly executed triple axel that renders everything else just featureless ice.
-
67Anyone looking for a full-bodied account of the woman, her deeds, and her place in history shouldn't be encouraged to linger too long with The Iron Lady.
