    It's not bad enough to be offensive, and the movie's act of affirmation - for all its self-absorption and high levels of pretrip ignorance - addresses an unimpeachable, moving subject and is undertaken with decency.

    Ultimately, this is perhaps useful, since "never forget" only applies if you know something in the first place, and in that regard The Lion of Judah serves as a cautionary tale.

    It is an affecting movie - who cannot be affected by the mountains of discarded eyeglasses and shoes and children being dumped by way of slides into mass graves? - but ultimately, The Lion of Judah is no more essential than the sum of its stock footage.
