I liked the series but this film sucked imo. Recycled a bit from the series and it really was just so stale and so stupid that I couldnt even come close to putting it in the same catagory as I did the series. Really disapointed with this.

Airplane worked so well for its lack of central characters(despite the two romantic leads) and gags came and went as fast as the Road Runner. Naked Gun suffers by always tagging along Leslie Nielson who's, at best, a character actor, not comic lead. Worse, the jokes here are heavy, at times even dull, overly elaborate, and extended like the scene with people spitting at the baseball Airplane worked so well for its lack of central characters(despite the two romantic leads) and gags came and went as fast as the Road Runner. Also, the makers of this film don't have the kind of zany personal involvement Mel Brooks has with his films. If Airplane was a parody of airplane disaster movie formulas, by Naked Gun Zucker films have themselves turned into rigid formulas. Expand

All Naked Gun shows are excellent cable fare - utilitarian and already paid for. You can watch the start, then later catch the remainder during a hangover without the annoyance of having to refresh the continuity. Chewing gum for the eyes and chloroform for the troubled mind.

Reviewing The Naked Gun... is like reporting on a monologue by Rodney Dangerfield - you can get the words but not the music.
