More than just a walking fat joke, Sherman Klump is Eddie Murphy's winking rebuke of his own arrogance.
Tasteful, subtle and sophisticated are a few of the words that aren't going to be applied to Eddie Murphy's version of The Nutty Professor. But funny, funny is something else again.

Eddie Murphy plays Professor Klump in The Nutty Professor... A 1996 comedy romance film that is one of the best comedies ever made. A remake of the Jerry Lewis one I don't know but Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor is hilarious. This film is better than anything with Jim Carrey in it and The Nutty Professor is a real treat for film fans. I recommend it.

And the movie succeeds in two different ways: It's sweet and good-hearted, and then again it's raucous slapstick and bathroom humor. I liked both parts.
This remake of Jerry Lewis's 1963 Jekyll and Hyde comedy is slackly directed and overloaded with flatulence jokes.
Occasionally irritating farce but inventive and boasting an endearing as well as laugh-out-loud performance from Murphy in and out of fat suit.
Arguably better than the last five Eddie Murphy films taken together, The Nutty Professor still seems to be playing down to its audience much of the time, though you'd never know it to hear the gales of laughter erupting at the screening I attended.
The film is otherwise plastic; the supporting players stink and a few too many fart jokes exist where wit belonged.
There are nonstop laughs and Eddie Murphy gives great performances for all of the 5 or 6 roles that he takes. The humor is simply spot-on in this comedy.

There are a lot of funny bits in “The Nutty Professor”, and it teaches a pretty good life lesson, too. Be warned that the language is really rough, so don’t expect to watch this with your 5 year old. I give it a C, if you've already seen the best, but you insist on watching a movie, try this one out.

Murphy's story in this side of the case is actually more enjoyable than at least him trying to betray us all with his absurd and disgusting fat suit used in... *cough* my latest low score.
