  1. As good as family entertainment gets.
  2. A fast-moving Walt Disney Co. comedy that manages to sail past many of the cliches usually found in this genre while throwing together a wild story line more apt for a new millennium.

Strictly for the very young who will find giggles in the anthropomorphic mash-ups and won't be too distracted by the predictably mawkish sitcom plot.
  4. The extraordinary canine performances in Shaggy Dog and "Eight Below" lead me to wonder whether Disney could dispense with two-legged creatures altogether, until further notice.

It says something for Robert Downey Jr. that in a movie where a man becomes a dog, Downey creates the weirdest character.

This fur-fetched tale is bearable family viewing.
  7. The movie is just this side of terrible. It misses all the charm and fun of the original. Allen's mugging is incorrigibly unfunny.

Probably the worst movie I have ever seen. Only enjoyable if you enjoy the highest levels of irony.

It has a lot of good moments and the story is decent. I liked Tim Allen's performance, which made the movie a lot more interesting. It is a fun but weird movie that has a few decent laughs. Expand

Movie includes disturbing, dark and diabolical genetic mutation plot, stun guns and lots of needles, dressed up with cute pet tricks and family bonding. Thematic material was over the head of the 3-year-old I brought and unappealing to the 8-year old with me. Yuck. Expand

Hopefully, being a dog for a short amount of time will shorten Tim Allen's lifespan. Another flop, Disney. Another flop.
