The action sequences are good, but in the end "Transporter" is a standard movie that uses the same tedious blockbuster formula.

The Transporter series of films are a tongue-in-cheek take on the stereotypical action/thriller genre. The action equivalent to horrors "Scary Movie" series. The films are fast paced, over the top and extravagant throughout. Statham is serious at all times and doesn't let on to the fact that he is playing an archetypal action hero, ignorant to the immensely ridiculous nature of his actions, which gives the film a much deeper and darker sense of humor. The films highlight the absurd nature of action films by excessively exaggerating every element that make up the action genre to a point of obvious mockery. Many of the famous action scenes that have graced cinema screens are copied and ridiculed in this excessively exaggerated way. Expand

This movie was action packed. Jason Statham really proved his acting skills in this movie. The second part was not nearly as good as this one. Looking forward to seeing part 3 instead.

Outrageous and hilarious. Both 1 & 2 are parodical in many of the scenes which would be physically impossible in real life. The stereotypical unrealistic hollywood action goes so far that it becomes very apparent that the film isn't being serious.

I was really looking forward to this movie and yes the action was at times awesome but there were a lot of things that pissed me off about it. Like all the slow beat music playing during hte fight scenes, get some faster techno in there! But go see it just for the first chase scene and expect mindless action from then on. Once again, Jason Stratham proves he is F***ING awesome!

Perhaps I am being generous with a rating of 1. When I saw the previews, the movie looked interesting, mostly because I had recently seen Snatch and was hoping for more great acting from Statham. Sure he did alright for what he had to work with, but taking the guy who brought Turkish to life and has played interesting, complex roles in Ritchie films and turning him into another Vin Diesel is an insult to fans of good movies. The soundtrack was ridiculous, the acting was immensly sub-par and annoying, the plot was shallow, and any remaining strong points couldn't come close to making up for the rest of this garbage. Please, Jason, don't do it again. Expand

This movie was insane! It blew me away from the start with the opening scene. Roger Ebert says, there is too much action?! Which makes it less interesting?! What does he want, a boring movie based on a boring book. This movie's action keeps you thoroughly entertained, unless you like movies that go at a slow and methodical pace all the way to the conclusion. Bottom Line: If you like movies that has fast paced roller coaster ride storytelling 88% of the time and slow storytelling 12%, than this movie is for you! Expand

I admit bias, since I've loved Statham since Lock, Stock, and Snatch -- and he is oh-so-cool in this one. It opens to preparation for a very good chase scene, with great pacing and some very good stunts. The opening chase scene has some subtle wit, and a fun feel to it through the funky opening score. I feel it is a very entertaining action movie, but I would have been much happier if Besson mightn't have taken the whole "suspend disbelief" thing a little far. Some insipid dialogue, wholely unlikely events, and preposterous plot twists interrupt the flow, and detract from the fun for any viewer with the ability to reason, even while suspending disbelief. Still, I felt entertained when walking out of the theatre, and even went to see it twice, taking my son, who at 21, loves action flicks, too. I always enjoy the departure from Hollywood-itis European flavor lends to action and thrillers, but even more, I would have loved a good story to have served as the foundation for this movie. Expand

This movie rocks the way action films should. It doesnt pretend to be more than what it is, and that's ok. THe hero is a bad ass with style and class. THis film has one of the best car chases ever, the fights are well choreographed and the story, well, predictable and with holes, but that's ok. This film is about kicking ass and getting the girl. No more, no less. Have fun with it!!!

I think I was overly generous by giving "XXX" a 7 because The Transporter, while not a work of art, is much more fun, has much more original action, and an intangible energy. Statham is MUCH better as an action hero than Vin Diesel, and Qi Shu has a freshness that Asia lacks. I agree wholeheartedly with Jovi's comments below.

The second half of the movie was terribly funny--although, I don't think that is what was intended. The bad guys were caricatures and over the top and the ending was just ludicrous. The girl was smiling at Frank and laughing just seconds after ..... However, most of the action sequences were great and I am a sucker for Jason Statham in anything!!

This movie looked pretty cool, considering snatch was great and the asian chick looked hot. however, i was horribly horribly wrong. first off, the soundtrack. this is how they might have come up with it: "hey, my kid has this cool program called Frooty Loops. lets get a monkey who knows sign language to make some pathetic beats that sound kinda like rap but then we dont have to pay royalties. vanilla ice would approve! yay!" next, the unbelievable action. sweet jesus christ. the number of times he violates the laws of physics are beyond comprehension. its like they decided to take all of the bad parts out of stalone, van damme and seagal movies and mated them in some sort of giant ungodly love fest. how could an international slave smuggling ring not have guns? "hi, im the choreographer, the only martial arts ive seen take place in bloodsport 11, and i wasn't sober." and dont even get me started on that crazy chinese mobster guy. hes gonna give me nightmares for the rest of my life. hes an interesting mix of igor and darth vader. "i am your father"?! dont see this movie even if frenchmen threaten to burn your bowels out with a hot poker. worst movie ever. Expand

Great fighting and car chase scenes. The plot was paper-thin, but as a raw adrenaline flick, it didn't need too much of a storyline.

The movie completely lacks substance. The storyline is nonexistant. In addition, the music is completely out of tune with what is happening on the screen. Horrible acting and utterly ridiculous fight scenes make a outdated Jackie Chan movie a better choice.

Easily one of the best "bad" films I've seen in a while. To everyone who says the plot is paper-thin and ludicrous, and that the characters are almost nonexistent, and that there are huge plot holes and large doses of illogic, you are right. But no matter. The car chase sequences are a cut above most...they are genuinely exciting (as they always seem to be when they're shot in Europe - are there looser safety regs there??). The action comes fast and furious and with an edge missing from most American attempts. Jason Statham comes out of practically nowhere with some seriously bad-ass martial arts skills, and if he could just bring some more charisma to his lines then we may have a new-generation action hero. And you always have to have at least two of them competing with eachother at the box office. Stallone had Arnold. Seagal had Van Damme. Now Vin Diesel should come up against Statham, who is definitely more skilled in the art of taking out the trash. I hope his career takes off after this, he deserves it. Expand

This was the funniest movie ever made! I laughed my ass off the whole movie. I haven't seen a movie this horribly done in a long time. And by long time, I mean never. See it if you want a good laugh, but don't go looking for any intelligence, for there is none in this movie.

Jason Statham kicks ass! Where did he learn to do martial arts? And where did he buy that six pack? The action is excellent and the car chase sequences are some of the best put on film. The female lead is cute and sexy even if you can't understand what she's saying. The French cop is completely unintelligible, but he's got a small part. This film has it all even if all doesn't include a plot. We even got some gratuitous shirt removal so Jason could show off the new bod! Could have used some female nudity, but what can you do? Funny, exciting, action-packed popcorn flick. That's what you've been sold and that's what you get! Expand

Painful Painful Painful. Over the top, ridiculous dialogue, over editing, over directing. Ramboesqe bullet dodging. Bad guys lives in a 25 million dollar home but works in an office resembling a used car salesmans. The transports car is gone in the first reel of the movie. I actually had to walk out of this film, for one of the 1st times of my life.

This is possibly the most fun movie I've ever watched. I was on the edge of my seat and laughing with delight throughout the entire thing. Every single action/chase scene (roughly 2/3rds of the movie) was amazing, on par with the SWAT scene in the matrix. Go see it. now.

A lot of action, alittle plot is exactly what The Transporter delivers. which means, if your looking for a heart tugging, tear jerking, superb acting, sentimental masterpeice...look someplace else because this is a more of a guns firing, feet flying, blood spattering action flick...nothing more, nothing less. take it for what its for and enjoy the adrenaline ride!

I think the fights and car chases were excellent. The story wasn't too bad but some parts were mediocre (saw that word recently and just wanted to use it LOL) Apart from that it wasn't bad- couldve been better. I think they were relying heavily on the action scenes to carry the film. Jason has a lot more potential. Does anyone know what style of martial arts he does? if so can you let me know? Expand

Man delivers stuff in the South of France, no questions asked, friends with Police Detective, meets pretty Chinese lady who was his "cargo", gets crossed by George Michael, wants revenge. Brainless action film with the whispering Jason Statham whose accent really is something to behold. Sort of a Cockney playing an American playing a Londoner. The action is fast, fun & far-fetched, Statham seems in his element here & it's enjoyable if you don't take it seriously. Not sure how the truck kept it's speed when they were fighting though? Expand

There's plenty to like here, especially for connoisseurs of the action genre, and there's also plenty to make you wonder whether Besson and co-writer Robert Mark Kamen scribbled their screenplay on a batch of Marseilles cocktail napkins and then lost one or two.
