  1. The story, at heart, is earnest and humorless teen romantic glop, but its feelings aren't fake, and the movie is compulsively watchable; it has a passionflower intensity.

Employing a bigger budget, better effects and an edgier director ("Hard Candy's" David Slade), Eclipse focuses on what works -- the stars.
  3. Eclipse has its cheesecake and eats it, too.

There are better special effects than last time, and Bella gets to be brave when it counts. All of which should be like a freshly opened vein for fans -- especially as it results in Eclipse ending up almost exactly where it started, with weddings still to come. Can you wait?

For now, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is just one more walk on the mild sides for tweens who dream of being penetrated by cold flesh that will keep them young and cute forever.

The huge contingent of girls -- and women with girlish fantasies -- who liked the first two movies will doubtless enjoy Eclipse. But this third go-round won't make Twihard converts of the rest of us.

You brace for a certain amount of hand-wringing, lip-biting and pinup posing aimed at middle-schoolers; given the way that Eclipse initially suggests a potential for reaching beyond a preteen audience, you just wish the beefcake and cheese didn’t eventually overshadow its better qualities.

A very good interpretation of the book. If you dont like the book dont go to see the movie. Simple as that. Why people have to make such a song and dance about it I dont know. Expand

An interesting and beautifully filmed third installment of the Twilight saga, which is not as bad as everyone says it is. It is entertaining, some dull acting (Pattinson especially), but the visuals are great and the battle at the end is very entertaining. I enjoyed this movie and have enjoyed how the story is unfolding on the big screen. Expand

The social vampires, cuddly werewolves and one-expression-Bella are back!

The plot was sort of dragging, then jumping ahead, and the scenes
    had some nasty jumps too.

The action and fighting scenes were rather nice. The movie definitely looked better than some of its prequels did...

You definitely need to see the previous movies before this; it connects strongly, like the previous films did, with no explanation as to who is who or what has been going on.

Good stuff in this movie: Dakota Fanning! She was stiff but kind of good. Also more Peter Facinelli as Carlisle wasn't bad.

Bella is still lacking facial expressions and her wanting to become a sparkly vampire is getting so very old, although I can see Edward not wanting to do it. 'Told you so' isn't going to work on that one, I guess... Jacob still uses every excuse not to wear a shirt - how funny that Edward pointed that out at some point. Edward himself is regressing from previous movies.

All in all... there were good elements in this movie, but the focus is still on pouty Bella and her relationship problems. That pretty much kills everything else in the movie that might have potential to make it better.

It's teeny-bopper sheen, abs, and amateurish writing obscures what could have been a good movie. It's too bad the plot centers around a love triangle and romantic lines that would make George Lucas cringe. Expand

I love Vampires and Vamp movies and this is neither. Vegetarian Vampires is laughable as are these androgynous ladyboy wannabees. READ the books, the author does not know the genre and is cashing in on the Vamp craze...this is a crap fest for Emo Goth pretenders. Expand
