    The Zodiac regurgitates a lifetime of police-thriller conventions, adding an aura of laughable solemnity in the hope of making the plot seem less banal.

    Unfortunately, the film lacks the suspense and drama to carry the psychological burden placed on it by its makers. Plot strands are dropped like so much lint, and it ends so abruptly that you wonder whether the filmmakers ran out of money, ideas or both.

    Although the movie doesn't turn the Zodiac saga into a slasher film, it has the look of a straight-to-video movie, or at best a Project Greenlight production.

    The movie rolls on in its own creepy way. Though one would have expected more with the prolific cast and the theme.

    This is truly a masterwork of a maturing filmmaker. The fanboys wont like it, but it's a fine pic. Great performances accorss the board.
