    Directed by Blume's son Lawrence, this gentle drama based on Blume's 1981 novel works surprisingly well considering the numerous trappings of the material, while demonstrating exactly why it's so difficult to bring Blume's work to the screen.

    The film is an examination into how precious life really can be. A young girl (Willa Holland, who anchors the film remarkably well) is thrust into a difficult world upon the sudden and violent death of her father. Tiger Eyes is a gentle and honest film, with a strong supporting cast, including the singer and actress Amy Jo Johnson. She is great as a Davey's mother in her nearly catatonic state of depression.
