Through interviews and various events taking place during the 9 months of the production process, we look at this unique movie making experience. In the second part, we look at the result of this creative experience : a drama of lies and betrayal. The story centers on real estate tycoon and womanizer Remco. During his 50th birthday party thrown by his wife Ineke, his successful and frivolous lifestyle takes a turn for the worse. His business partners, Wim and Fred, are scheming behind his back to sell him out. And to make matters worse, both his current mistress Merel and his former office-fling Nadja, show up uninvited with one of them pregnant. All is not what it seems to be in this tale of passion, betrayal and disintegrating relationships. Expand

It’s kind of a blast, with fully enough plot to fill a two-hour feature crammed efficiently into less than half that time in a manner that demands nothing from you except that you enjoy the ride.

Discerning Verhoeven’s hand in it all is difficult, though true to the helmer’s more intimate style, it largely revolves around sex, and has a few fun plot twists.

Nothing more than an absurdist soap-opera bauble.
