Even for a porno film it was bad. No character development and a terrible ending. Not worth your time!

Very well done movie. Strong acting. Only once in a long while does a movie come along with such an impact, to where you leave and say. "I would like to watch that again"

A stunning and powerful performance by Lane carries the film from start to finish. A beautiful film from Lyne that radomnly echoes his career peak "Fatal Attraction."

Went to see it with high expectations. Quite frankly, one would be better off renting a porno flick. At least those movies try to develop the characters and make an attempt at a script. With the quality of the actors in this film I expected so much more. The movie was flat with absolutely no character development nor any explanation for Diane Lane's character risking her marriage and family for her daily dose of steamy lowlife sex. The ending is too bad to believe as it leaves you with what might have been had the screenwriters demonstrated even an ounce of creativity. Terrible movie that is void of any character development. About the only thing worth watching are the sex scenes. The movie never explains why Diane Lane's character risks her marriage and family for lowlife steamy sex? The method and how her lover is killed with Richard Gere and Diane Lane's reaction is simply absurd. A terrible waste of talent with a lame ending.

Diane Lane's performance easily elevates this film above soap opera script and soft-porn style cinematography of this Adrian Lyne film.

Diane Lane puts out an incredible performance. She deserved the Oscar. The entire cast is great. Outstanding film. Way to go Adrien Lyne!

Diane Lane can act. Richard Gere can't, not really. But he wasn't mis-cast. No wonder her marriage bored her. Consequences of adultery without the melodrama, but in the end resorts to the body bag to tie up loose ends. Still, Lane should have got the Oscar. Spectacular. Loved her performance, hated the rest of the movie.

[***SPOILERS***] Diane looks good for an old lady...two problems...the ending was unnecessary...most husbands would go to counselling...some would leave....and none would turn to murder...and I kept expecting Malcolm in the Middle to show up... Good movie. At times a little slow, but overall very much worth seeing.

After a fairly boring first half hour, film picked up in interest. A star-making performance from Diane Lane, similar to Sharon Stone's in Basic Instinct. Of course, Stone's ability is so limited, she was not able to sustain that momentum. Lane is considerably more talented and should have better luck.

Not sure if this was the intent of the movie, but the character's were little developed, the plot was simplified to sex, sex, and more sex--playing off the good looks of a lead actress, Gere's character didn't develop either, the son charcter same...all characters were simplified, but maybe there was a reason? I wouldn't recommend this movie, altho the execution of the story does make me pissy with the intent of this movie and what it says about perpetuating women as irrational sex objects while men are of course, just fine.… Expand

Simply put...awful. Not only was the movie completely unbelieveable, stereotypical and just plain boring, the ending (which I was anxiously awaiting after what seemed 4, rather than 2 hours) was perhaps the single worst ending to a movie I can remember. Comparisons to Fatal Attraction, are trite, too easily made, and just not accurate. These two movies in fact, have very little in common outside of the adulterous affair, namely appeal. Acting was satisfactory, if not a waste, of the potential the actors possess. Direction was fine in terms of the finished result, but the fact that changes weren't made to the screenplay to make the movie far more interesting, make me question Lynn's judgement. I think perhaps more telling of the movie's ineptitude was the audience's reaction. Several people, young and old, male and female were heard complaining as they left the theater. Many of whom were heard to say, "I heard this is great movie." going in. Buyer beware. I would say to wait for the rental, but that would still mean a waste of money. Perhaps, it will air someday as Saturday night movie on NBC, ABC or CBS. That is the time I would suggest sitting down to watch this movie. Of course, if your time is even remotely valuble to you, even this may be a high price tag, but at least you could multitask- like vacuum. Then you won't feel as bad.… Expand

I disagree with many who say this movie is just about the sex. There are other, deeper issues here...guilt, jealousy, obsession just to name a few. I thought the movie was well done and well acted.

I would not recommend that anyone see this movie. The ending was horrible and is not worth the time and money to watch!! It's a waste of money and talent.

The movie was intense with flavor and pizzazz. I love the choosing of the actors. They made you really feel the characters.

Horrible, movies like this just protray and encourage more cheating and unloyalness towards two people who are married. Dont people see this enough in real life to just emphasize lust more in real life(A note to all stay faithful to the one you chose, because your not just holding your heart but theirs as well.) Immoral, Pure filth, these are the types of movies that make society even more negative, leaves you spiritualess, and gives a very uneasy feeling about life today. Avoid watching this smut should put this crap back with adult videos only for its lack morals. Diane Lane conveys superbly the inner conflict and anguish between passion and fidelity. Richard Gere the pain of an unfaithful partner. The murder and ending were not necessary, though understandable for the box office. Tragedy lies in the brokenness of Gere, which he conveys reasonably well. Mopre satisfying by a long way than 'Fatal Attraction'

This is a very good movie. There are two MINOR flaws in this film. 1: The kid's dialouge wasn't great and wasn't played out well. 2: It went on for a bit long. Otherwise there are some amazing performances. It's really smart and powerful. Lyne's directing was really great. Overall, a really well done drama.

The thing that was different in this movie was that there was no explanation for diane lane's infidelity which i thought was refreshing. why,can't women have lust?. lane gives the performance of her career so far,gere was good,martinez was ok,though he looks great and the sex scenes between him and lane were hot which is lyne's forte. but there was 1 major flaw throught the movie which was that one could see the sound mike evrey time there was a close up shot. was i the only one who noticed this?. all in all a decent film about morality and its consequences.… Expand

I tell you, I tell you boy that lady sure was purdy. I liked all the action. Made me feel like a boy of only 5. Boy I don't need Viagra anymore... I love this movie I went and took me grandson and his wife to go see it. I sure did not see them very much. they were both gone to the bathroom so much. and when they came back they were wearing each other's clothing. Oh those silly kids.

Tiltillating largely because of Diane Lane's nervous, repressed sexuality shed like a snake's skin in an erotically charged scene, it soon degenerates into Adrine's Lyne's typical empty sexercise. The french lover is simply le hunk as well as le intellectual(as all French are, I guess) and Gere again plays an amiable character, which he seems to alternate with cynical hipsterish roles. … Expand
