By turns heartbreaking, amusing and disturbing, the film features people from different regions, economic classes and religions, recounting stories that are sometimes bleak, sometimes encouraging, but always compelling.
  3. In a season of proliferating issue-oriented documentaries, Voices of Iraq stands out by the sheer nature of its provenance: Iraqis themselves filmed the footage during a six-month period this year.
  4. The overall effect is scintillating and very engaging -- literally history in the making.

With Iraqis pointing cameras at each other, the result is cheerier than might be expected.
  7. Fairly fascinating little documentary.

It's certainly important for American leftists to consider that many Iraqis have benefited from the war that we oppose, but the omission of historical context here misrepresents the checkered history of American involvement in the region.

A surprisingly upbeat look at that Middle East hotspot.
  10. The latest - and really last-minute - documentary hoping to affect the presidential election is a deceptively partisan view of the Iraq War.
