  1. Disarmingly intelligent if scattered documentary.
  2. A relatively straightforward portrait of Holmes, using interviews with family members, friends, wives, X-film producers and his former co-stars.
  3. A fairly tough-minded film until the end, when several commentators who have been critical suddenly turn misty-eyed and suggest that underneath it all, Holmes was really a sweetie.
  4. 60
Holmes's story isn't pretty, but it's fascinating, in no small part because the people Paley interviews offer a glimpse into a brief time when making porn was an act of rebellion that attracted a diverse and eccentric group of filmmakers and performers.

Doesn't really get interesting until it deals with his involvement with Wonderland murders. Most of it plays like an extended A&E Biography, zooming in and out on the same stock photos numerous times. Expand
