Tyler Perry movies suffer from poor and amateurish writing, below average acting and the same story just told in a different way. Doesn't he have any original material? The situations are melodramatic and not real life, the story lacks continuity, focus and the situations are predictable.

This movie was wonderfully done. I struggle with enjoying Tyler Perry's movies because unfairly I compare them to his plays. I was supringsly excited and laughing throughout the entire movie. My fiance' and I had a wonderful evening together ( in more ways then one). Thanks to "Why did I get married?"

Tyler Perry has crafted a pleasant film.. nothing extreme just a docile dosage of soap opera material without the wink ... Jill Scott was great as the rest of the cast.. Funny moments.

It's Sunday, I saw this movie last night and I am still thinking about it. I laughed, cried and empathized. It's what life and loving is about, the highs, the lows and the in betweens. The characters represented the people we are, the people we want to be, the people we want in our lives and the things we are thinking but dare not say (Tasha Smith's character). I am still savoring my enjoyment of this movie - WOWW!!! Tyler Perry, THANK YOU!!!! God has truly blessed you, and I think HIM for putting this movie in your heart for the rest of us. Expand

I thought it was hilarious, moving and very truthful. It offered all sides, views and situations. Quit labeling Tyler and really look at the movie. It was well worth the cost and I want to see it again. It took me through a range of emotions all good for the soul.

The movie was very realistic. Marriage does have its problems however, Tyler helped couples to problem solve through honesty. Even though 3 of the 4 couples stayed together, the 80/20% rule helped us see it is not always greenier on the other side. It is better to work with what you have invested in than to marry someone just for their looks. I loved it! It was very thought provoking.

Well done TP. Best work ever. Full of good material. So refreshing to experience a realistic movie that is well worth the expense of a movie ticket. Janet Jackson was outstanding. So happy to know that "Little Penny" has not lost sight of all respectability and grace. I was so moved by her raw talent and could appreciate her ability to be natural. Kodos to the entire cast and particularly TP & JJ. Expand

I am not one for throwing 10's all over the place but I do think this movie is a must see. I think it is by far the best movie Tyler has put out to date. The movie generated a strong reaction from the movie goers I was with in the theater on several occasions throughout. My boyfriend got a huge kick out of it too. The beginning and the introduction of all the characters seemed a bit forced and/or awkward but it only last for a very small amount of time. It picks up in a big way after that. The movie was entertaining, very funny and very real. There are several scenes in there even the toughest critic has to give Tyler credit for. I wouldn't go throwing Oscars at the cast but it is worth your time and the $8-10 to go see it. Expand

This movie was very entertaining. I don't think most people who have seen it would argue with that. It was also great to see African Americans portrayed both as successful and beautiful, something that is rarely seen in Hollywood movies. Kudos to Tyler!

This may have been an improvement from his past movies, but nothing has changed. In this industry its about originality and we are not seeing that from Tyler Perry.

This movie was great. It helped my husband and I look at a deeper meaning in marriage. The point of his films is the message people get from viewing it. Some people who rate it low are very shallow people and are probably very bitter people. You need a hug.

Tyler is highly talented, it must be the critics who do not understand him. Because his audience fully supports, Black Love, empowerment, and change! Hollywood take note, black audiences will flock to see positive images. I will support anything he puts out, just for that matter, and on top of al of that, he is hilariously crazy! I love him, love his work, my wedding anniversary is thai week, and that is where we will spend it, in the theatre, supporting Tyler. And asking the question. Expand

No, this was not an excellent film. Does it deserve a 0 or 1, absolutely not. It just proves how hateful people can be. I cannot fathom why anyone would actually go to see the film and then be surprised at its content. If you did not like this previous films, what would have made this one that much different. Perry is nothing, but predictable. Hmmmm.

The movie was great. It sent a strong message to married couples. However, I feel too much profanity was used for the spiritual aspect of it. In reality Christians have troubles, but they have better choices of words - even when arguing.

The thing that bothers me has nothing to do with the acting content. It merely has to do with the fact that Mr. Perry feels the need to label every single one of his project has "his." Is it because this man has a big ego, or maybe because he just wants every single type of credit he can get.

Tyler Perry has done it again!! I love to see positive portrayals of Black people for a change. It would be great if we could see this in other movies. But until Hollywood recognizes this, I guess we'll have to keep applauding MR. PERRY for taking up the slack. Thank you Tyler!!!

Me and my wife loved this movie. Everything in it has hit on things we've seen in ours and our friends relationships so it really hit close to home. My only problem with it is the cheesy way conflicts are resolved. The only believable resolution in this whole movie was the one between characters Angela and Marcus and even that one was a little playish in its execution. Janet Jackson and Malik Yoba's characters could have been left out entirely or rewritten because their problem was so big that it years of counseling would have been required to work out let alone a hug and a talk. Jill Scott did an ok job but Perry should have stuck with her story being the meat and potatoes of the movie. It was much more interesting than most of the others. Expand

People, just because it was better than the other crap Tyler Perry has put out does not mean it wasn't a terribly done movie. He just has no talent as a filmmaker. I saw this as a favor to a friend who wanted to see it and couldn't convince anyone else to go with her. I had pretty low expectations, and it was even worse than I thought it'd be. The movie was poorly done and frankly, I was embarrassed to be seen walking out of it. Expand

The problems are real; the solutions are ... well, really entertaining. Perry mixes heartfelt drama with bold-stroke, insult-slinging comedy.
  2. As has been previously demonstrated in the hugely successful Perry's stage, television and big-screen works, subtlety and tonal consistency are not his strong suits. Here, the mostly broadly drawn characters and situations on display quickly prove grating, with the film veering awkwardly between broad comedy and melodrama.

Though fans might miss Perry's genre-exploding daring, the excellent cast injects enough pathos and zing to keep picture percolating.
