  • Summary: This is a landmark conservation film and the first wildlife documentary to be filmed in three dimensions. With ranger Liesl Eichenberger as a guide, Wild Safari 3D takes the viewer along for a three thousand-mile ride in an open air vehicle on a game drive through nature reserves of Africa on a quest to see the Big Five, the most dangerous and spectacular animals on the continent. 1. For close-up views of large African animals in the wild, this IMAX spectacle is hard to beat. However, the film takes up too much of its brief running time tracking down the photogenic beasts.
  2. Reviewed by: Michael Esposito
One caution: If you get motion sickness, beware, as much of the ride is bumpy and there's some hill-climbing and -descending that some might find disturbing, even in the comfort of an IMAX theater seat.
  3. The cinematic safari's simple pleasures are best experienced with the littlest ticket-holders, who get an edifying thrill ride and a computer-assisted sense of a wider world.
  4. 60
It's informative as far as it goes, but the film's raison d'etre is the simple sight of large wildlife up close and personal, and it's mesmerizing.
  5. 50
The 3-D effects are among the most effective ever shot.
