Given its nonlinear structure, Your Name requires your trust, but once you place your faith in screenwriter/director Shinkai’s expert hands, the reward will come. (Not surprisingly, the film is the fourth-highest-grossing film in Japan’s history.)
The beauty of the feature lies in its ability to stir the imagination with eerie, resonant hand-drawn animation.

This animation gave me a wonderful experience, allowing me to see a wonderful story that could not happen in real life, with a complete structure. Although the ending may not be liked by most people, I like this animation very much.

Makoto Shinkai's lush mindbender Your Name has many elements that are familiar on their own but here combine to create something unique.
The beauty of Your Name is that, as in the best animated movies, the thin black lines of the character design invariably dissolve, and all that remains are Taki and Mitsuha, thoroughly mixed-up teenagers.
Although there are times when the story loses its focus (mostly during the scattershot and occasionally confusing second half), the overall impression is one of satisfaction and the animation is better than anything to emerge from Japan since Miyazaki “retired.”
Being cluttered isn’t the only problem with Your Name. It also features insipid characters and dippy montage music from the J-pop band Radwimps.
That’s a lot for a viewer to take in, and as pleasing as some aspects of Your Name can be, there’s no question Shinkai’s overstuffed movie often trips over itself.
Decent story, but bland uninteresting character. The animation is gorgeous, but that doesn't make up for mitsuha and taki being relatively uninteresting. Taki is worse than mitsuha, but they both suffer from boring writing. There are also some character inconsistency where taki's personality completely changes when in mitsuha's body. He's more of a dud bro when in her body than he is when he's actually himself. Other than that the movie's good. The scene on the mountain is very good which makes me wish they interacted more. Also needless to say the music and animation is phenomenal.

A pretty and sort of cute movie. I was notably distracted by the intensely hetero-normative plot-line which I didn't find especially interesting. There was also a vaguely, blindly traditionalist sentiment expressed, especially early on in the film, which left a bad and aggravating taste in my mouth.

Don't understand the high rating, as it is, don't get me wrong, beautifully animated, but there were just so many plotholes to the story that it was difficult to engage yourself into it. Questions like how were they able to switch bodies, and why they forget their names were all not explained. It just seems like lazy writing to me as some things were set up too coincidently, like how they meet up at the end of the film. Also the comet struck the place twice is also very unlikely and have to suspend your believe too much. The town eventually got wiped out, but is it not like groundhog day that they could try to save the town over and over again, until it works? Just with a romantic plot line just doesn't cut it, and the romantic plot is very thin aswell and wasn't enough to get me invested. Very forgettable storyline.

Vaya película mas mala. Si bien la animación es excelente (de hecho, todos los animes siempre tienen bien este apartado), la trama es confusa, con huecos argumentales y en ocasiones, cliché. Lo que mas me calentó de la película es que termina con el típico final feliz del novio y la novia encontrándose... Pero nunca explican por que sucedieron esas cosas sobrenaturales de los sueños y demás! Por que se cruzan los tiempos?! Nunca lo explican! El 3 se lo tiene bien merecido, por hacerme perder el tiempo.
