Where Agaetis Byrgun was epic, this album is just long.

If this were the first album I had heard by Sigur Ros, I might be more impressed. In comparison to the high quality and adventurousness of their first 2 albums though, ( ) feels like a step backward.

A blank palette for all manner of silly inflated purple prose (see other user reviews), yet essentially doe-eyed post-rock which could use more glances in the direction of a tune. For a better, more forward thinking vision, check Mum's "Finally We Are No One."

Interesting, but over-rated mood music, hard on the ears at times, more flashy and clever than truly moving. Too precious.

  1. An overblown, overhyped dreamy swirl of sound that can't commit itself to being anything.
  2. A decent follow-up from a band who has already proven themselves capable of much, much more.

Charming and enrapturing, adrift in its own unique, invented world. [#11, p.142]
