  1. Far more interesting than any of their other records, or their peers'.
  2. "Crow" is a striking redefinition, an album that roars and twitches with the raw, aggressive, fury of urgent rock activism.
  3. The band still indulges in plenty of effects-happy instrumental gymnastics and tricky rhythms, but A Crow Left of the Murder . . . is also its most consistently tune-based album.

Suddenly, these longtime collaborators seem like a mismatch worthy of Blind Date. [Mar 2004, p.95]

There’s little in the way of straightforward rock here[;] instead they have opted to renege on their commitment to flat-four crunch and embrace melodicism...and experimentalism.

The band began a slight departure from their A Crow Left of the Murder is a challenging listen even for the most hardcore Incubus fans. The band began a slight departure from their overly crowded genre with 2001's Morning View and, they continue down this path on their 5th LP. Unfortunately, artistic integrity doesn't exactly equal commercial success (the singles just aren't there). However, if given a chance, A Crow Left of the Murder revials some amazing material. It is certainly the most intriguing alt-metal album I've heard in years... and that says a lot. Expand
