Some of the reviews on here are slightly ridiculous. This was a great album, possibly their best. As an owner of the Uber Deluxe (not Super Deluxe), i was startled at the price when pre ordering via amazon. When I unpacked the Box Set all my concerns were put aside. Amazing. Highlights would be the Baby Achtung Baby disc, the vinyl singles, the unique magnetic choose your own tiles album cover and of course the Italian made The Fly Glasses. So kitsch, so U2. I am going to replace this with a second box as i intend to use and abuse this one, just love it all!!! Collapse

This album is off da chain. The new mixes sound awesome and the extras in the box are awesome. This isn't my favorite U2 album but it's definitely in the top three. If you consider yourself a U2 superfan, you should get this box set (then again, you probably already have it).

Recognised as U2's masterpiece, it's hard to argue with the general consensus. 12 tracks that push stadium rock into the unknown. Full of risk, innovation and most importantly melody, U2 put it all on the line with "Achtung Baby" and end up reaping the rewards. Over the course of the history of rock music, you'll rarely find a band who were selling out stadiums go and produced something as radical as this. To state again, not only does "Achtung Baby" have great songs but it's also innovative and not just for its time. It's over a quarter century old and still sounds amazing today. Despite the amount of U2 haters around, if U2 brought out a record like this now I believe it would still be universally lauded. Expand

U2's best album, has a unique sound that is only in this album, it's unique in its own way, with many of their singles such as one, mysterious ways, and So cruel, this reboot is amazing, if you like a mixture of 80's and 90's garage band, and a touch of alternative you will love this.

While 'Achtung Baby' was highly ridiculed by some reviewers (Most of which I doubt even listened to the entire album), I will give you the short answer to whether or not it's the best album by U2. And to be honest: it's not their best album, but certainly a pleasing one. But the one thing that really makes this album stand out are the B-Sides, which I will get into later in the review. TheWhile 'Achtung Baby' was highly ridiculed by some reviewers (Most of which I doubt even listened to the entire album), I will give you the short answer to whether or not it's the best album by U2. And to be honest: it's not their best album, but certainly a pleasing one. But the one thing that really makes this album stand out are the B-Sides, which I will get into later in the review. The music that makes this album really define who U2 really are, at the roots of the band. Their music has turned into more of a indie-rock and pop-themed music, but the real rock-hard U2, as seen in Achtung Baby, really put the line down on the identity of the band. Their rich, borderline music really drives the album. It certainly is a marvel to behold, but some of the songs just don't fit well with the message that U2 tries to send in the album. But overall, the songs are great. Now, let's get into the B-sides. These songs really send the album home, with it's authentic styles. I was skeptical about the B-Sides when getting the 'Super Deluxe' version, but I haven't regretted it yet. One of my favorites is, "Alex Descends into Hell for a Bottle of Milk/Korova 1." This B-Side really sends the defining message of this album, that U2 is a rock band to it's roots, throughout the elegance and beauty they seemed to pick up throughout the years. The message stands firm to most of U2's biggest fans to this day, and it will certainly stay like that for years to come. I recommend 'Achtung Baby' if you have been a long-time fan of U2. If not, you might be in for a surprise. Whether the be a good or bad one, that's up to you to find out. Expand

U2's album 'Achtung Baby' is pretty good to be honest. It has some very good songs like The Fly, One, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses and Ultra Violet. The sound on the album may be repeatiting and some songs like Zoo Station and Love is Blindness can he skipped but overall the album is quite amazing for the originality of sound and introspective lyrics by Bono.

Great album with an insane sound. The Fly has one of the greatest guitar riffs I've ever heard in a song and I've never heard the Edge play better before or since. It's definitely not U2's best album, but it is a great album and shouldn't be passed on.

An amazing album that can also be a marking post in the evolution of rock. Released the same year as Nirvana "Nevermind", Achutun Baby marks the end of emotional, uplifting pop rock, giving way to angst riddled, heroine music. Both were brilliant albums of 1991, but Achtung Baby gets extra credit for being their 7th album, and still sounded fresh as air.

This was way ahead of it's time as well as Zooropa and it was a good change and I am glad they did this quick transition. But as you all know after Zooropa they returned to their original roots which I like better just because that was what U2 was all about and yes they have remixed or brought back this and Zooropa elements into their later albums which made them good as well. Achtung Baby is officially the second best reviewed U2 album, after Joshua Tree. Although, I am not super surprised as I grew up loving this album. There are so many songs here that I love that I cannot name them all without taking up a lot of the space for the actual review. Ultra Violet, Until The End Of The World, and Mysterious Ways, along with countless others, are some of my absolute favorites of all time, and I could go on and on about everything I love about Achtung Baby. I would add 70% of all the songs here to my favorites playlist, which is an extremely high percentage for an album. The only song I couldn’t get completely down with was Love Is Blindness. I really liked its lyrics, but the actual music was just so-so. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think that song is too bass-heavy, though I did like the idea of slowing down a little after such a hype album. Besides that, I loved everything about Achtung Baby and would happily recommend it to all lovers of great music. Highlights: Even Better Than The Real Thing, One, Until The End Of The World, Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, So Cruel, The Fly, Mysterious Ways, Ultra Violet (Light My Way), Acrobat, Lady With The Spinning Head, Blow Your House Down, Paint It Black, Fortunate Son, Alex Descends Into H**l For A Bottle Of Milk / Korova, and Where Did It All Go Wrong?.

Since that time in 1991, U2 has had other weighty tracks, sensualist personal soliloquies and dense production - but nothing better than this truly real thing.
