This is the best album I have heard since Skying by The Horrors. So many layers to the songs. I cannot believe the adam ant who wrote "manners & physique" and "wonderful" could write such an amazing album.

It goes to show you, that Adam Ant had got his head straight and is writing music for himself. Fantastic, now will someone get Morrisey and Johnny Marr back into the studio so both my 80's legends come back.

A sounding board for confessionals too heroically wonky to be dull. [Mar 2013, p.86]

It's a feisty, assertive affair, but let down by weak production and a lack of musical focus.

There's too much going on in every individual song and, at 17 cacophonic tracks, Adam Ant Is the BlueBlack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter is simply way too much to take in at once...and yet, that's precisely its charm.
