    Despite the recycling, it's one of his most inventive and potent albums to date, full of aggression, euphoria, and hope--alongside the rage, indignation and bitterness--and powered by idealism, pride, honor, and some of his strongest jams yet.

    The fiery spirit of Africa For Africa certainly carries echos of the immortal Fela, and Femi seems quite comfortable carrying on his father's legacy. But, with another powerful addition to an already stellar catalogue, the son is not so quietly building a legacy all his own.

    It's a tremendously soulful record, more James Brown than Marvin Gaye, and at the same time thoroughly African in its concerns and style. Anyone wondering whether the son could break free from the father's long shadow need look no further than this.
