Nguyen has created what will probably be one of 2003's best albums. 'Again' is a dark and sexy record that reveals itself seductively over time.
-
FilterMusic for smoking and looking bored has rarely ever been this decisively brilliant. [#10, p.98]

It's the kind of recording many people can enjoy and want to have in their collection. You can throw it on in most any circumstance. It has the sensuality to seduce, the edge to agitate and the style to inspire.
-
PlanetAlthough modern electronic fans may find Nguyen's well-versed reconstruction of the past a bit too underwhelming... studied rock postmodernists will find his mix of retro-influences and garage-y vibes worthwhile. [#7, p.72]

Again would have made a much more solid album had it exhausted its ideas in half the runtime. As it stands, there's simply not enough development within any track to justify its length, and the loops are too subdued and unengaging to hold its listeners' attention.
-
Labeling Again as entirely derivative would be inaccurate, as Tan folds flourishes of dub and krautrock into a lascivious mix of after-hours cool.
-
Again is an opportunity missed by such distance as to become pointless and even irritating.
