I loved "Here for the Party" despite 8 songs, but this was pretty much the same all through. I like #1 and #12. The rest mostly sound funny or the same. And "All Jacked Up" sounds like "Redneck Woman" at parts, but it's still good.

Not as great as her first cd, but it''s Gretchen so I can't not give her a 10. She's not Martina, she's not Reba, she's not Shania-all-the-songs-sound-the-same. She's her own person. If people could get beyond the redneck/right wing/hard core/drinking stuff they would find a truely great artist who is ahead of her time.

This album is by far worse than her first one and should have an R rating on it.

I'm trying to get past the fact at how disgusting she is. Ok, the music is basically a step back for the country world.

Gretchen Wilson is the insipid combination of pandering to your audience while pretending to be a rebel in doing so. Country's answer to Puff Daddy. In one song she says how patriotic and religious she is and then complains about how terribly difficult religious patriotic people have it. (Right..) And musically she's just a replica of everything that sells in country.

While Gretchen's Here For The Party CD has a genuine autobiographical feel, All Jacked Up panders too much. "California Girls" and "Politically Uncorrect" are just plain bad songs. "One Bud Wiser" is overkill. Still, there's stuff to make the CD worthwhile: the clever "Skoal Ring," the Tammy Wynette-ish "I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today," the ethical dilemma in "He Ain39;t Even Cold Yet," and the pretty "Raining On Me." Gretchen Wilson's voice is a refreshing reminder of Country Music greats of the past, like Loretta Patsey. This album is a mix of classic styled country and bar room tounge & cheek ditties. It proves that Gretchen has a versatile ability that can bridge honkey tonk and traditional country styles with both style and ease. I see her going places for a long, long time. I only wish I had signed her. Expand

  1. While Wilson's always refreshingly brash as a vocalist, the arrangements are only satisfactory.
  2. Beyond the bombast, Wilson has personality and soul to burn, and her impact on country music is going to be felt for many albums to come, starting here. [1 Oct 2005]

It's fed-up and proud at the same time, a kind of Desperate Housewives meets Trailer Fabulous. [Oct 2005, p.144]
