May 15, 201310It's a beautiful album that captures the essence of domestic, content life through its calming grooves and fantastic melodies. It's chilling, relaxing, and relatable, and more approachable than most YLT records. I think it has proven itself very worthy of all the critical attention and is easily one of the best albums of the 21st century.

GuyHApr 12, 20079Not a typical YLT album in that there isn't as much variety in mood and pace as usual. However, I think this eventually works in the album's favour, creating a really hypnotic feel. A brilliant late night listen.

SlowGlassRecordsSep 22, 200610brilliant, stunning, exeptional masterpiece of extreme proportions.

JohnLJul 24, 20069The album before this was their greatest, but this is terrific in a very different way, and stands out more than what followed (which is/was still good don't get me wrong). These folks are as interesting a band as their is in America (the only thing I prefer is a dou called Rasa), and so it's been for the last 10-15 years.

JimBMar 27, 200510A sublime masterpiece! And perfect for "summer night" listening. Could be Yo La Tengo's best album.

And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out, while not unremarkable, is still a little disappointing, too light on memorable hooks and melodies, too long on leisurely arrangements, and not too great to obliterate feelings that Yo La Tengo usually does better.
-
70And while not so instantly accessible as much of the band's recent output, the songs still manage to be catchy, if elusively so; this is an album that rewards repeated listening.

A very pretty, measured album of slow, organ-supported mood crawls. And nothing else.
