Modern pop with hints of classic R&B and soul. The songs are very polished and well-written, but never feel less than authentic. Anjulie's lyrics explore themes of obsessive love, relationships, and romance. The album is a great showcase for Anjulie's talents, and given the right promotion, could very well make her a star.

  1. Anjulie is quite impressive as an opening salvo from a talented musical collagist whose minor flurry of hype is well-warranted.
  2. Anjulie has a distinctive, somewhat thin voice and it takes a few listens to warm up to it. There’s a slight Europop and world feel to both Anjulie’s vocals and songs but there’s nothing radical going on here.
  3. Levine's production style isn't quite as edgy or intricate as his former colleagues', but it provides a lush, retro-soul bed upon which Anjulie lays her confessional lyrics.
