If this is Ladyhawke trying to find herself, she's tragically lost sight of what made her amazing in the first place.

Sadly most of these forgettable songs tend to evaporate on impact. [Apr 2012, p.101]

The songs aren't strong enough to make it feel vibrant. Only the chugging Cellophane captures the giddy, filmic qualities of Ladyhawke's early songs.

In its more luminous moments, it also contains enough to suggest that there is still a great album lurking somewhere underneath the Ladyhawke moniker.

While Anxiety is not a trainwreck, it's a missed opportunity given the strength of her foundation.

The majority of the tracks on her second full-length, Anxiety, teem with chilled vocals, crunchy guitar, and keyboard blurps that move hips to sway before showing their hollowness as soon as one steps off the dance floor.

On the whole, Anxiety lacks the addictive quality of its predecessor, and it's certainly less musically interesting.

To be fully honest, it is a bit of a let down considering this is what was produced after a 4 year wait. Some parts of the album kind of run together and sound the same but other than those two flaws, the album is fantastic. The way she crafts her music makes you want to get up and dance, even on the ballad, and the best track on the album, "Cellophane". I think that people who fell in love with her first album will need some convincing to love this one but it isn't a far reach. Ladyhawke is still in there, it's just a more mature and less commercial sound. Full Review »
