Apocalyptic Love, the album, is at its best when Slash is operating within the team. [9 Jun 2012, p.52]

In reality, [the album] is another sampling of ridiculous guitar riffs, and for Slash, it's a way to keep playing at a level he can dominate. Is it a new chapter in his career? No. It's just a continuation of previous chapters. But maybe that's OK.

    Pretty good but never outstanding.

Each of the album's thirteen tracks passes by without any fuss or fight; every song blending into one long blob of grey matter that leaves such little impression in spite of repeated listens.

  1. Best Hard-Rock Record I've been listen in years. Great work for Slash and Myles again.
The band has to grow even more. But has great songs and
compositions that will make people fall in love common to the genre of it. Expand
  2. This album didn't stick with me at first, which was disappointing. With each additional listen I liked it more and more and eventually decided it was great. The problem here is that the songs just don't have catchy hooks or big choruses to really catch fire, but the craftsmanship is fantastic. My favorite album so far this year. Standouts: Anastasia and Bad Rain. Duds: none. Expand

I was pretty disappointed with this album. Save for a few great songs (You're A Lie, We Will Roam, Anastasia), this album is very middling and somewhat dull. The lyrics in the songs are very cliche, though Myles has a great voice. From a musician as legendary as Slash, I expected more than a standard rock record which took no risks in the making. Expand
  4. I'm a huge fan of Slash, but this album is a let down. None of these songs have that melodic, soulful quality that Slash is known for. The songs are just generic and mediocre...the guitar melodies are generic, the vocal melodies are generic. There aren't really any memorable melodies to keep me coming back. It's especially disappointing, since Slash's songs with Myles in his last album were so soulful and full of personality...so I was expecting to hear more of that soul on this album. But this album is just dull. Instead of taking advantage of Slash's soulful guitar, and Myle's soulful voice, they went in another direction and cranked out this dull, generic heavy metal crap that sounds like something a bunch of amateur teenagers could've produced.
