While it's not better than 50's national debut or G-Unit's album, it's certainly no worse.

Billboard
Despite these minor flaws, "The Hunger for More" serves its purpose in establishing Banks as a new voice in hip-hop.

New Musical Express
An assured debut that scores as much for what it doesn't do as it does for its low-key, insidious rhymes and chrome-gleaming rhythmical clatter. [24 Jul 2004, p.49]
70
Vibe
While he excels in clever jousting, Banks lacks range and storytelling ability. [Jul 2004, p.136]
70
All Music Guide
The Hunger for More is another solid release from the crew and is a couple steps down from 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' and a step above G-Unit's Beg for Mercy.

E! Online
The one thing Banks lacks is Fiddy's natural charisma--he's also about eight bulletholes short in the "life-experience department."

Los Angeles Times
Though not one of the songs on the album stands out in terms of head-popping new production -- there's not a hit that will transcend the hip-hop hard-core -- each cut is utterly bulletproof, and Banks' lyrics provide a few new twists. [18 Jul 2004]

Rolling Stone
Banks... raps each verse as if his entire career depends on it. [5 Aug 2004, p.113]
60
Blender
While Banks's wicked wordplay is impressive, his one-liners get him only so far. [Jun/Jul 2004, p.134]
50
Village Voice
Banks lacks 50's humor, vocal playfulness, and stone-cold articulation.

Chris H gave it a6:
One of the last really solid G-Unit albums, and a better album than "Beg for Mercy" or Young Buck's or Tony Yayo's albs. (Though "Stunt 101" and "Poppin' Them Thangs" were better than anything on Banks's album).

Star E gave it a7:
This is a SOLID album, banks does everything he needs to do..theres a mixture of mad different types of sogns.party sogns, hood songs, chick songs, and real songs about his life...Only reason i gave it a 7 was because "Best Of Lloyd Banks pt.1" was SOOOOOOOO good that i expected this album to be hte hottest thing i ever heard, but at teh end of the day 7 outta 10 is good

christopher l gave it a10:
this album is raw gutter you gotta love it i love his gentle but precise delivery also the combination of straight lyrical diversity and over all slickness i nead music thats really relaxing and that falls into the catagory my favourite tracks would be if you so gangsta and till the end my opinion is that lloyd banks is equally talented if not more than fifty 10 out of ten till the end

Harman B gave it a1:
just not gud. young buck's superior and his album is way better than this piece of crap.

chris h gave it a7:
this album is hot and lloyd banks is pretty crazy but he has a very mono toned voice it feels like every song si the same tihng

Robbo gave it a10:
This album is tight as hell, with slick metaphors and hard punchlines that leave 50 and the rest of G unit for dead. Looks like we know where the true future of G unit is at. Best songs....If you so gangsta, Im so fly and Warrior

Figz gave it an8:
I like the C.D.. I dont know why or how come.. but it was way better then i would of expected expecially from G-Unit. Better then 50 cents C.D.s put 2gether fav songs: Til The End, Work Magic, Die One Day, I Get High, Im So Fly and Karma
