Tiny Mix Tapes
I don't know if this is one of the bravest or boldest albums of the year, but its definitely one of the neatest.

This is the work of noise nerds bent on finding beauty where others see nothing but a tangled mess. [Jul 2004, p.110]
Alternative Press
It's a unique psychedelic experience only the most headstrong will be able to handle. [Aug 2004, p.122]
All Music Guide
Ultimately Creature Comforts is another starry refraction in the cosmic music that Black Dice have claimed, one that hasn't failed yet in dazzling.

This is a headphone record of the highest order, where every last detail should be isolated against your ears and pored over.
Read Full Review >Delusions of Adequacy
If you dont like noise records then you [should] steer clear of this, but if you happen to like listening to the sound of vacuum cleaners, video games, dishwashers, and other major appliances, I suggest that you buy this immediately.

Isn't an easy listen but those with an adventurous ear will be well rewarded. [Aug 2004, p.101]
The Onion (A.V. Club)
Parts of the album seem arbitrarily sparse or less than sure of their ultimate direction, but Creature Comforts congeals into a whole that finds its mind below the surface.

Despite the somewhat uneasy spirit that runs through the album, the album holds together from start to finish impressively. [#7]
The Wire
This can be thrilling, unnerving and just occasionally tiresome. [#245, p.53]
Dusted Magazine
It more or less picks up where Beaches and Canyons left off, allowing for more subtle changes in tone while distilling the Black Dice sound down to a considerably purer essence.
Like Sonic Youth reincarnated in Williamsburg, Black Dice evoke sublime psychological realms by making a racket. [5 Aug 2004, p.112]
Stylus Magazine
For all its surprises, Creature Comforts marks one of the first times Black Dice has sounded like a band in transition, and consequently lacks much of the serendipitous splendor of their previous efforts.
Most of Creature Comforts is hypnotic, if hardly soothing, noisemaking. [Jul/Aug 2004, p.124]
Village Voice
On their directionless new Creature Comforts, Black Dice seem confused, in fact, about what precisely their aesthetic is.

Sicnarf gave it a9:
Such a good album for texture fiends. Bad album for retarded people (or maybe its the other way around...).
Garrett S gave it a0:
THIS IS NOT GOOD MUSIC. Pretending to like it does not make you intelligent or cutting-edge! Nobody cares except you and your pseudo-intellectual scenester friends. With that being said, I heard their new album actually has songs. I'm not exactly excited to hear it after listening to this mess.
Schmitty L gave it an8:
Sillies!
Kurt F gave it a 4:
I've seen them live, and I won't lie it was very confusing. I spent the first 20 minutes of their song talking and chatting away with friends while I presumed they were "warming up" when indeed the static cracks, synthetic strings, and seemingly unbalanced band members was their first song. I'm from Maine, as are two if not all of them, but I just can't get into this stuff. I'm sure it has it's place, it's just not with me.
Johnson G gave it a 10:
It is a truly mesmerizing and cleansding experience to become enveloped in this cd.
Laurence H gave it a 2:
Psychedelic electronica era DOESN'T belong to Black Dice anymore. Garbage.
