Rhys D gave it a9:
Why the hatin? I love this album. If some of the tracks on here had been released as a single by, say, Wooden Shjips, everyone would be coming in their pants over it. But because its BJM, and because of *that* film, lets write them off.
Chonky T gave it a9:
Anton goes in another direction with this one... and it's good. Lots of fuzz, noise, distortion and not at all what I was expecting. Total shocker the critics don't like it.
Dan gave it a9:
This album is totally hypnotic. BJM continue their progression through the history of rock, arriving at a cross-pollinated Kraut-Gaze that refuses to leave my player or my thoughts. In a perfect world, Newcombe would be a star while lesser talents would be licking his boots, but this reversal would probably sap what is essential to his sound.
Joseph B. gave it a9:
The BJM tend to be slightly love or hate (which is shown pretty clearly in the reviews), so you expect any number of reactions. You'll know from the first song whether this is the type of album you like - imagine 'In Rainbows' by Radiohead, but remove all the production tricks and add a healthy dose of resentment. This isn't dancing music, this is art-music, and should be heard in the foreground. I like it, interesting direction, only Anton could get away with it...
