A breathtaking 35 minutes. [12 Nov 2004, p.122]

The Onion (A.V. Club)

It's not a Case overview, but a standalone country-rock classic.

Filter

The collection is over too soon, but not without a perfect conclusion. [#14, p.103]

82

cokemachineglow

Tigers cannot compete with an actual Case show, of course, and after Blacklisted we don't really need to be reminded of her talent, but, hell, why not?

All Music Guide

If it's a relatively minor effort, it still sounds like the work of a major artist, and there's lots of pleasure to be found in it.

Mojo

One of Americana's most exquisite singers. [Dec 2004, p.114]

Alternative Press

The whole thing is over before you know it packing a punch as sweet and warm as a shot of whiskey. [Jan 2005, p.108]

Uncut

A gig of the year, no question. You should have been there. Now you can be. [Dec 2004, p.150]

Delusions of Adequacy

About as good as a live album can get.

Splendid

A short but vibrant live album... Tigers captures the boisterous good cheer of Case's live show, proving once and for all that there's more to her music than dead bodies, wounded relationships and creepy, palpable stillness.

Billboard

The only problem with this crackling sampler is that it clocks in at just 34 minutes.

PopMatters

Its warm, welcoming feel, not to mention the stellar performances provided by everyone involved, makes this the rarest of live albums, a record that is able to stand on its own, right alongside her previous work.

Stylus Magazine

Neko possesses one of the most terrifically powerful voices in music today.

Pitchfork

Case is a singer first and a songwriter second, and The Tigers Have Spoken is afflicted with the same malady as Blacklisted: Many of its songs are too short, clocking in under two minutes.

Spin

In the end, like her hero Loretta Lynn, she's the good girl who done got complex. [Dec 2004, p.123]

70

Tiny Mix Tapes

With Tigers clocking in at a brisk 35 minutes, she definitely leaves you hungry for more.

Blender

[Case] settles into a relaxed dive-bar groove. [Nov 2004, p.130]

70

Under The Radar

The album does a good job of making the listener feel like an intimate part of her show. [#8, p.109]

Neumu.net

She selects songs that are somehow special, and presents them with great playing and singing, in a way that clearly means something to her. My bet is that they'll mean something to you, too.

Almost Cool

While all the songs are nicely performed and recorded, they simply don't capture the amazing qualities of Case and her band.

The Guardian

It never sounds like much more than a bar band playing songs for friends.

Pickles gave it an8:
This was my first neko case album and i will be going back for more. I didn't know it was a live album until the first song was over.

J Dawg gave it a9:
This is her best album. Neko shines, and this album encapsulates her greatness live.

Jere W gave it a9:
A mon avis, the best songs are always 2 minutes.

Adam H gave it a9:
I took about 35 CDs on a 51 hour Greyhound trip, but this is the only one I listened to (except for a couple of spins of SMILE). Neko put me to bed while I watched all those Pittsburgh houses roll by, and she woke me up in the Kansas flats. I had assumed the show they released was particularly good, but I just recently got to see her live, and she sounded even better. Check out the Sadies' Favorite Colours ... you won't be disappointed.

Mike W gave it a10:
LOL... What's wrong with a "bar band playing songs for friends."? Ok, clearly, the writer for The Guardian, Adam Sweeting, isn't a golfer. *whew....glad thats over* Ok, this album keeps me moving in my chair at work and weaving in and out of traffic when in the car (kidding, of course). But really, this album completey rocks! Her voice is very musically delicate and the sound quality beats that of other live performances i've heard. My ONLY dissapointment with this album is it's length. Could've put some fillers on it?? But I still give it a 10 because whats on the album kicks some serious butt....... Adam Sweeting from The Guardian goes on to say that Case's song "The Tigers Have Spoken" is a "nasty little piece". That's one of my favorites! It's sad and uniquely beautiful! I'll, clearly, never read The Guardian

Mike B gave it a 9:
i've never enjoyed live albums, they just do not capture the live experience, but this is brilliant. the new songs thrill and the majority of the covers sound fresh and new once more. and that voice! wow. it'll take something special to remove this from the cd player.

jim r gave it a 9:
The Guardian is full of shit.
