80

Vibe

While it's no surprise that Destiny Fulfilled showcases advanced production values, the songwriting and vocal abilities are just as impressive. [Jan 2005, p.81]

70

Mojo

The lyrics veer towards simplistic, but Destiny pull it off, mainly through muscular production and stunning vocal interplay. [Jan 2005, p.97]

63

Los Angeles Times

The singers balance resilience with vulnerability, worldly desires with divine aspirations, but the material is simply overblown, puffed up with soap-bubble ideas and endless repetition. [14 Nov 2004]

60

New Musical Express

There are simply too many stodgy slowies. [13 Nov 2004, p.57]

60

Blender

It's fun enough, until the interminable breakup theme that drags down the second half. [Dec 2004, p.136]

58

Entertainment Weekly

Often moves at a molasses-like pace, weighted down with a preponderance of exquisitely executed but ultimately dull ballads. [26 Nov 2004, p.117]

50

Stylus Magazine

Unlike many R&B artists, Destiny's Child are actively bad at singing ballads, which mostly turn out mawkish, aimless and dull.

The New York Times

A surprisingly perfunctory disc that never quite justifies its existence. [22 Nov 2004]

Dot Music

The thing is, charisma and human warmth – or at least a plausible facsimile of them – are vital to the success of a ballad. And the bald fact is that Beyoncé and her handmaidens are utterly incapable of faking sentimentality.

All Music Guide

The album winds up sounding too reserved and heavy-handed, which makes it a disappointment not only compared to what the group has done before, but also to what the girls have achieved outside the group.

E! Online

The first word that comes to mind while listening to Destiny Fulfilled is: boring!

Q Magazine

It's disappointing to find a glut of songs seemingly calibrated to appease the demographics. [Jan 2005, p.126]

40

Uncut

Feels for the most part like a vanity side project from Beyonce's solo career. [Jan 2005, p.115]

40

The Onion (A.V. Club)

Destiny Fulfilled sounds distant and detached, and its pronounced ballad-fancy only occasionally raises a flag for the group dynamic it serves to restore.

The Guardian

Once you get past the first two songs - the fantastic, legs-in-the-air Lose My Breath and the juddering Soldier, featuring rapper Li'l Wayne - you're stranded on a huge landmass of ballads.

Rolling Stone

Despite a handful of strong cuts, Destiny Fulfilled sounds like the kind of album you make when you're saving your best material for your next solo album.

Tiny Mix Tapes

Destiny Fulfilled starts off pitifully and only gets worse.

Ashley S. gave it a10:
out of all of the tracks I loved and still love from "Destiny Fulfilled" from the ladies "T-Shirt" is my personal favorite song from the album because it makes me think of someone special and I know if my baby called me I would sing it to him every night we'll start to talk. I love DC.

papi b gave it a3:
Wack album.

richard j gave it a4:
To be honest never been a fan of destiny child only good song is "Say My Name", the rest is mediocre, her solo album okay not worth 5 grammys. This is toilet the only decent songs are Lose my Breath and Girl but even these are forgettable, i am glad this will be the last album for them as i think thsi is a con on their fans and the music industry, if you ever come up with another album please write better material! Enough of the drab crap! Also Beyonce stop cat screeching, we know you can sing but cut the over singing, you are not aretha franklin or tina turner.

Boris F gave it a7:
A solid R&B album w/ cuts off the dance floor but mostly tracks that lead your from the bedroom to the car, to your bf/gf's arms with some signiture destinys child female impowermant sprinkled in a solid closeng album from teh best female group of our generation

Hein gave it a7:
3 beautiful ladies.

Bobby H gave it a4:
Pros: Lose My Breathe is a good pop cut; Soldier hits of there hip-hop roots; Cater 2 U is a pleasing ballad; Girl, the best cut on the album, is a sweat sounding r&b cut Cons: Only the singles are worth listening to, the ballads other than Cater 2 U and Girl are all crap Overview: Just buy the singles off iTunes, and get the ONLY good part of the album

Amanda A gave it a7:
Although “Lose My Breath” was the only dance song on the album, the other slow mid-tempo R&B songs such as “Soldier” feat Lil Wayne and T.I, “Is She the Reason” and “Free” are excellent as well. These songs don’t make you dance, but the lyrics and vocals along with the rhythm are great. The ballads on this album are even better. “Cater 2 U”, “If”, and “Love” all showcase the three incredible vocals and talent each member posses.
