E! Online

This new soul still sounds fresh.

All Music Guide

It's a record that easily equals her debut, boasting better vocal performances but also better songwriting and accompanying production.

This disc is much more solid than Acoustic Soul.

Mojo

A richly rewarding album. [Nov 2002, p.114]

80

PopMatters

Voyage to India is a continuation of India's musical journey, a natural progression, the reflection of an artist's love for her art and its divine connection to life.

Entertainment Weekly

Thankfully, Arie keeps the music light and flowing, so even the most self-righteous lines breeze by.

Billboard

While, at times, Voyage to India seems a bit too preachy, Arie has a way of bringing everything together in a very palatable way.

Spin

On Voyage to India, Arie is just another girl on the neosoul train. [Jan 2003, p.98]

60

Rolling Stone

A collection of bright acoustic guitars, sumptuous bass lines, earthy midrange singing and lyrics that often have the deep emotions and romantic notions of a teenage girl's diary.

CDNow

Certainly a talented guitar-playing songstress, she also takes her lyrical cues from Hallmark cards, a mix at once comfortable and off-putting -- and difficult to put one's finger on.

Much of Voyage to India is a soporific swath of happy-hour wallpaper. [#11, p.127]

Q Magazine

[Her] penchant for pretension remains irksome: the dot in her name, the cringey album title, the worthy lyrics and constant namechecking of soul greats. [December 2002, p.96]

20

Uncut

On her underwhelming second album, we realise how nu-sould would sound stripped of all sonic invention, mischief and sensuality. [Dec 2002, p.151]

I can listen to this album with my 2 year old and not worry about him repeating what he hears. I can listen to this album on my way home from work to release whatever tensions I had during my day. I can even listen to this album with my mom and have her appreciate my selection of music. There is something for every mood on this album. You did it again girl!!

Jason P gave it a 10:
Could not ask for a better album. Those critics that can't the truth need to open their minds and hearts.

Absolutely phenomenal! She remains true to herself while showing growth and development at the same time. Her words and music have the power to touch the soul, lift spirits, and make the heart's feelings tangible. I cannot say enough good things about the album or India.Arie.
