Entertainment Weekly
A dull slog with a dearth of hooks and a surfeit of gangsta cliches. [21 Nov 2003, p.87]
E! Online
From the amateurish cover art to a succession of clumsy diss tracks aimed at Fiddy, Blood in My Eye merely makes the Tupac disciple look desperate and directionless.

Committed Ja Rule fans looking for those signature hip-pop collaborations he's taken to the bank before wont find them here.

Desperately slim pickings... betray this release's roots as a mere EP. [Jan 2004, p.116]
All Music Guide
There are only two quality songs, a lot of redundant trash-talking, and an overall sense of ridiculousness that pervades.

Consists almost entirely of antagonistic digs at 50, Eminem and Dr Dre, none of which are terribly sharp. [Jan 2004, p.105]
Rolling Stone
As refreshing as it is to hear Ja do something besides the singing approximation he's been practicing the past few years, the boasts here feel utterly tired.

Bird Man gave it a10:
This is some sick shit right here. Ja has released an album full of heavy songs no disrespect to fifty tho cos his albums off the hizzle
Kelvin P gave it an8:
Ja come back hard after 50 basically showed him what the "massacre" style of battling beef is all about but big ups to Ja though he did his thing
bul rube gave it a6:
damn okay album. would have been better if he did;nt devote the whole city to 50.
Joey M gave it a 9:
I Would of give this album a 10 but it has too many skits, If it had atleast 15 to 18 songs a 10 would be provided, This album is a DEFINITE CLASSIC, Dont be put off my previous reviews and the people who have dissed this album are people who claim to be 'hip-hop-headz' but only listen to the likes of EM & 50. JA destroy's SHADY in this classic album and even throws in a few metaphors for you people who REALLY listen to the lyrics! SHADY RECORDS fans will diss this album but if you listen to HIP HOP of a wide range you will find this album is a classic and realise you dont just have to listen to EM, DRE & 50. Consistabt production is supplied on this album so COP IT AND GET OFF SHADY DICK, EXPAND YA EARS IF YOU REALLY LIKE HIP HOP LIKE YOU CLAIM YOU DO!
ra ja gave it a 10:
