Billboard
Play[s] out like a fresh discovery that's strangely familiar--a '60s soul in a 21st-century outfit.

We Are Little Barrie is a stunning debut for sure, and the kind of record both old-school classic rock dads and groove-loving young kids should be clambering over each other to buy.
Fascinatingly oblique songs are plaed with confidence and laid-back precision, rather than smothered by a desperation to impress. [Mar 2005, p.96]
Entertainment Weekly
Barrie's wank-free creedo makes for a bright, poppy debut. [20 May 2005, p.77]
Paste Magazine
While the same pared-down, consistent groove that makes Little Barrie such an immediate grabber might play them out quickly, it's a tasty, gristly flavor of the month. [#16, p.126]
Uncut
Barrie Cadogan is a guitar phenomenon. [Mar 2005, p.102]
Q Magazine
So retro it's pratcially an historical document. [Mar 2005, p.100]
Pitchfork
When the recycled smoke clears, Little Barrie could use more songwriting help from their patrons (Moz, [Edwyn] Collins) and less hu-huh inspiration from Ocean Colour Scene's lobotomy-trad bong.

In their relentless slavery to the groove, the songs fall hopelessly flat. [12 Feb 2005, p.51]

Village Idiot gave it a9:
This is stunning, grooves from start to finish. Songs aren't exceptional to be fair hence only a nine but if anyone wants to learn how to play guitar with feel and soul then look no further. Steve Winwood eat your heart out.
Satya T gave it a10:
This is a very promising debut album. I was hooked the first time I heard it. Think of The White Stripes with a touch of funk and extended jams.
Luca S. gave it a10:
Simply wonderfull like my long hair. ;-)
Rob A gave it a10:
simply infectious excellence. buy this cd now!!!
Jesse G gave it a10:
The best minimalism funk treatise since Dyke and the Blazers Skilled songwriter fusing Hendrix soul tunes and Bobbie Gentry. Forget the new rock swindle, Little Barrie are the ones to stay.
a F gave it an8:
Not sure about Cadogan being the next biggest guitar genius, but this is a very promising start. Critics have been unfair about the retro issue; these are good, strong songs nicely mixing soul and blues. A definite candidate for second album scrutiny. A personal tip would be that Jet slump, and these guys soar, in that department. SPOILER ALERT: Check out American Minor's debut next month!!!
Adam H gave it a10:
Little Barrie fuses every great style from the 60's and 70's and strips it down to the bare minimum. If you like James Brown, the White Stripes, Hendrix, or the Temptations you will definitely enjoy "We Are Little Barrie".
