Drowned In Sound
Twenty One revels in fun found in the cobwebbed corners of Alkan’s mix and the nightlifing minds of its lyricists.

Twenty One is an excellent album replete with brilliant, clean, original production and instantly memorable songs.
This is a vividly youthful album, packed with acid-sharp lyrics and neon-bold choruses, playful vocal harmonies and strikingly confident pop sounds.

A bold leap forwards. [Apr 2008, p.98]
Observer Music Monthly
It's the record's wholesome tracks, such as 'Young Love', a duet with folk darling Laura Marling, that prove Mystery Jets thrive in the gap between naivety and cynicism.

Twenty One almost feels like the debut and "Making Dens" like the sophomore follow-up.
Read Full Review >New Musical Express
They’ve upset people’s expectations and made a handful of very good pop songs, but Twenty One ultimately just proves that they’re as unpredictable as they ever were.
The Jets sound cohesive and settled but losing their saucer-eyed charm can't help but make them a less mesmerising alternative to the competition. [Apr 2008, p.114]
Q Magazine
They can't sustain the quality over an entire album, however, and the inspiration dries up halfway through. [Apr 2008, p.112]

Loved This Album. Only The One Bad Track And I Agree With Yusten The Best Track Without A Doubt Is MJ Or Possibly Flakes.
Yusten gave it a10:
I loved their debut and 21 is even better. I can't believe some of the low scores I'm seeing. This album is amazing. From beginning to end this album is very impressive. My favorite track has to be MJ.
