All Music Guide
What makes this album so wonderful isn't so much the efforts of its star rapper but rather the behind-the-scenes cast of producers.

80
Vibe
Although the majority of The Last Meal's17 tracks are scrumptious, a couple of bland dishes found their way onto the menu. Although this album isn't quite as inventive as Doggystyle, Snoop blesses us with the right blend of West Coast gangsta funk, R&B, and that one of a kind flow we can't get enough of.

70
The Onion (A.V. Club)
Tha Last Meal may exhibit no artistic or lyrical growth, let alone maturity, but few artists coast on their free-flowing, larger-than-life charisma quite as enjoyably as he does.

70
Rolling Stone
Snoop Dogg's strongest album since 1993's Doggystyle.

70
Sonicnet
Tha Last Meal, mixed and largely produced by Dre (Master P is the executive producer), manages to sidestep the déjà-vu-all-over-again pitfalls by injecting the formula with sly wit, a healthy helping of cosmic slop, and, last but not least, some mind-bending production.

62
Wall of Sound
It gets tiresome, sure, but should this Dogg be put to sleep? Not yet. He's still coming up with funky beats and rhymes (like every single day).

60
Village Voice
Compared to the patchwork G-funk on Dead Man Walkin, Tha Last Meal is a sonic wonderworld. Dr. Dre and Timbaland gussy up Snoop's drag with their unique shuffles, making his descent into even deeper banality irrelevant.

58
Entertainment Weekly
Like everything he's done since 1993's ''Doggystyle,'' ''Tha Last Meal,'' starting with its tacky cartoon cover art, feels cut rate -- yet another minor album from a major talent.

40
New Musical Express
Make no mistake, this is a poor, poor album.... Frustratingly, it's a waste of talent. For Snoop has lined up an array of musical back-up here (Swizz Beats, Timbaland, Eve, Master P: all marshalled by Dr Dre), and his is one of the most distinctive voices in rap, but he chooses simply to repeat himself with it.

40
Dot Music
This collection of shimmering-smooth, synthesiser-led beats and lazy gangsta rap posturing isn't worthy of the once great Snoop.
