  1. Deeply atmospheric even for a Kranky release, As Good as Gone's subtlety is its strength, and shows how Foote, Dickow, Owens, and company bring out the best in each other.
  2. The music on the album is rarely as urgent as the image that adorns it, and never as explosive as the heavy artillery that is found on its back, but the disc has a more subtle appeal than both.
  3. As Good as Gone is Nudge's best album so far, the kind of record that indicates a band has found its signature sound, and is poised to deepen and expand it.
  4. Granted, those not in the mood for Nudge’s spaced-out symphonic sounds probably wouldn’t hold a dead rat near this record, but that’s neither here nor anywhere. If you’ve got a patient ear to lend, clear some time and space in your top floor and fall under the spell.
  5. Uncut

Something dignified and yearning arises from the mass of programmed details. [Sep 2009, p.88]
  6. Though not sure what to make of it, it is viscerally enjoyable and mentally wondrous nonetheless.
