  1. 90
Armstrong's arrangements have the emotional resonance to move your mind to more serene locales. [May 2002, p.78]
  2. In essence, the modern symphony reimagined as a mix tape. [19 Apr 2002, p.72]
  3. Held together nicely by Armstrong's expertly scored strings and a generally tranquil tone common to most of his work. [Jun 2002, p.71]
  4. 70
Armstrong takes the Massive [Attack] approach to celebrity guests, utilising them in imaginative ways to avoid the pitfalls of self-parody. [May 2002, p.97]
  5. The album is a bit hit-or-miss, fortunately more of the former than the latter.
  6. 70
As If To Nothing occasionally lapses into moments that more closely resemble a compilation tape than a cohesive body of music. [#54, p.76]
  7. Though some might say that Armstrong's music is powerfully evocative and serene, such people hate music and all its subtle possibilities and intricacies.
