Ambitious, anthemic and at times, gut wrenchingly emotional, At Hope’s Ravine is a staggering piece of work.

Essentially, what each track on At Hope’s Ravine has in common, is the blistering intensity with which it’s delivered, culminating in the ever-intensifying title track and the cathartic sonic explosion with which it bows out. A staggering debut album.

This is a sharp and quite possibly an important album, as memorable and considered as it is acerbic. Bravo.

This record blurs the lines between religion and atheism--it's a vital challenge to the inflexible labels that we are often asked to identify ourselves by. Alongside this, musical traits indicative of Glasgow greats see them nestle nicely into a thriving scene.

Even if several songs see them veer too close to conventional power balladry or Joy Division karaoke, Holy Esque are mostly wise to favour the first part of the time-honoured go-big-or-go-home strategy. [Apr 2016, p.74]

As a coherent album it's flawed, then, but with more consistent songwriting one senses they could be contenders next time around. [Apr 2016, p.107]

Sometimes, the band stumbles around with their influences, with the servicable-but-unimaginative chord progression of “My Wilderness” sounding like something Robert Smith scrawled on a napkin before throwing it away, a sort of bland imitation sound that carries over to other tracks like “Tear”.
