  • Summary: The American Idol runner-up releases his debut album.

  1. "American Idol" season six runner-up Blake Lewis' debut, "ADD: Audio Day Dream," is indeed a little all over the map, but, surprisingly, it works.
  2. Overall, ADD demonstrates why Lewis blazed his way into AI's final round: He's out there, sure, but he's willing to reel it in enough to keep it real for the masses.
  3. His singing on "Audio Day Dream" is fine; it gets the job done. Yet what arrests your ear are Lewis' ideas.
  4. A little something for everyone, in other words, though it probably won’t hold anyone’s focus all the way through.
  5. On his debut, Lewis is engaging and diverse, but he also fails to excite or provoke.
  6. If Lewis could just find a way to integrate all his early-MTV influences (A Flock of Fat Boys?), well...that album wouldn't be great either--though it'd be less forgettable than this exercise in pop adequacy.
  7. ADD is certainly one of the more interesting AmIdol-related records, but so much commotion without construction is ultimately as forgettable as Jordin's pageant-winner trifle, and perhaps a little more tiring to get through, too.

Almost a year after it's release, I'm still enjoying ADD and it never fails to lift my spirits. News about Blake has been kind of skimpy lately, but I hope he's been working away. He's got a great voice he knows how to use, a great ear for sound, is creative, and loves music. Can't wait to hear more from him. Expand

Love it. I have to dance to it, can't stand still. It is Blake Lewis persona fide, and that is a GOOD thing.

I've only heard Break Anotha so far, and after I really listened to it I really liked it. What I like about him is that he is a complete spaz and he has his own unique style. Expand

A fun album, if you don't mind the constantly changing styles. Voice isn't super strong -- but we knew that. If you like an 80's undercurrent and don't look down on Am. Idol, its worth the listen. Expand

This guy is so plain and has no personality whatsoever. He got so far by doing so little. He's perfectly average and nothing painfully boring.
