The combination of songs, sound, and performance make this another near-perfect album from the trio. Those who have fallen under their charmingly sweet spell can only hope it doesn't take another six years for the next one.

Green Day puts on a big, arena-sized rock show that's part visual spectacle, part sing-along revival concert, with Billie Joe as the preacher and ringleader. It's a wonderful experience in person, but it understandably loses something in the translation to CD and DVD.

This collection does little to enhance their hard-won reputation as one of modern rock's most compelling live draws. [May 2011, p.105]

By definition, it's a water treader and there's nothing surprising. [May 2011, p.124]

The title says a lot about the tongue-tied delight of a great rock show, and Green Day played plenty of 'em on their last tour. This set is a contagious account of the power-fun streak that still runs through the band even after the two punk operas.

Awesome As F**k doesn't repeat much from its predecessor, nor does it lean too heavily on 2009's 21st Century Breakdown, which provides only five of Awesome's 17 tracks. Instead, this album is something of a victory lap, as Green Day plays its most popular songs-and a few deep cuts-in front of huge, roaring crowds.

As it stands, Awesome as F**k is a good representation of Green Day today.

Awesome as F---, a live album, doubles as both a high-octane greatest-hits collection and a not-always-flattering portrait of the band's evolution from bratty Northern California punks to stadium-rock juggernaut.

Green Day does its best to trap both the manic and the melodic energy of the big venue tour it undertook for "21st Century Breakdown" on Awesome as (Expletive).

Not one for the casual fans, but more than enough to remember the good times.

This is an album that works best when at its most obscure. [19 Mar 2011, p.50
  12. Awesome As Fuck captures the intensity of a live Green Day show while giving you a nostalgic throwback into what made you fall in love with this band in the first place.

It has a great set list made up of some of Green Day's newer songs & some of the greatest older Green Day songs. If you're gonna buy this anywhere, make sure it includes the bonus tracks because hearing "Christie Road" once again & with a little kick of newer Green Day styling was simply amazing. Full Review »

It still has good songs, but they're all songs you already have if you have their studio albums (with the exception of Cigarettes and Valentines which can be found for free online. Full Review »
