  1. For once drum'n'bass's impossible Conlon Nancarrow beats, which Plug does pretty well with on those EPs, are the bed where the real music crinkles, crashes, chimes, swoops, swells, squiggles, gurgles, cracks wise, and just generally hooks you.

Back On Time is restlessly inventive without being overwrought. [Feb 2012, p.97]

For music that is over 15 years old, Back on Time sounds as fresh as a sitar-wielding half-stepping daisy.

Back On Time does reek of that era (1990s) rather than more recent productions trying belatedly to push the same buttons. [Mar 2012, p.68]

Listening to Back on Time is a throwback to the peak drum'n'bass era-this album is chock-full of authentic '90s flavor.

It's a pleasing set on its own terms, but it's just as interesting as a contrast to contemporary electronics, to hear what traits and effects have faded as its evolved so rapidly.
  7. Q Magazine

It's very much a period piece, but a very enjoyable one at that. [Feb 2012, p.107]
