This isn't just a music album, it's an era that redefined pop in 2013-2014, earning it a Grammy nomination!

The production is great, the vocals are great too, but I feel like it's just a desperate attempt to escape the good girl image.

Miley Cyrus cemented herself as a cultural staple with the rarely captivating BANGERS. From her blonde her to her numerous antics that pushed boundaries whilst beginning trends(however appropriated) she created her own space from the parasitic Disney past.. The predating easy heartbreak of her Snoop Dogg collaboration felt like an ascension one made dull by this full release . Her albumMiley Cyrus cemented herself as a cultural staple with the rarely captivating BANGERS. From her blonde her to her numerous antics that pushed boundaries whilst beginning trends(however appropriated) she created her own space from the parasitic Disney past.. The predating easy heartbreak of her Snoop Dogg collaboration felt like an ascension one made dull by this full release . Her album succumbs to too little self control ,too much indulgence and no self. It seemed like a calculated attempt at pandering to the airwaves(one that worked ). A bit too on the nose considering her adopted persona. The first two songs are good. They are the singles &we understand why:they mark the few good moment's on this severly overstuffed record. "SMS" feels almost disrespectful with how little it tries and successfully disappoints. The aforementioned being topped by the terrifying "4×4" which at its play at conveying "real miley" ends up being one of the worst things to hear in 2013. The centerpiece &controversially filmed video, "wrecking ball " connects back to "adore you" and the album it could've been. Save the reprieve of "Darling " this is mostly a culturally significant record that relies on it's singles for enjoyment.
Despite it's mark on culture it's an effortless meditation on nothing at all. And we can tell

O álbum que revolucionou a música pop na década passada em 2013… é um álbum fantástico que tem imensas baladas! As letras são de dor… algo oposto ao álbum Plastic Hearts que é de superação.

Bangerz is just forgettable, and actually hard to listen considering the bad production. Also Miley's voice was not good at all.

Arguably one of the most controversial pop era's of the 2010's, 'Bangerz' leaves little to be offended by in it's music.

Shedding the skin of Hannah Montanna, exchanging her long brunette locks for a bleached pixie cut, and swapping her anthemic arena ballads like 'Can't Be Tamed', 'Party In The USA' and 'The Climb' for slow, romantic trap-pop songs, Miley Cyrus was a catalyst for media
Arguably one of the most controversial pop era's of the 2010's, 'Bangerz' leaves little to be offended by in it's music.

Shedding the skin of Hannah Montanna, exchanging her long brunette locks for a bleached pixie cut, and swapping her anthemic arena ballads like 'Can't Be Tamed', 'Party In The USA' and 'The Climb' for slow, romantic trap-pop songs, Miley Cyrus was a catalyst for media fire in 2013. Accusations of cultural appropriation for her new Lil Kim inspired image, a controversial video of an 18 year old Miley smoking weed and her sexed up VMAs performance all contributed to the complicated yet fun record that is 'Bangerz'.

The album starts off with a slow love song 'Adore You', in which Miley sings almost slurred over layered vocals and a bouncing trap beat. Penned by Cyrus, Stacy Barthe & Oren Yoel, the track is a drunken love note to her then ex-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Being one of the only positive songs about their relationship on the record, Miley yearns for the comfort of her lover, and constantly asks for reassurance.

Next is the hit single 'We Can't Stop'. Serving as the lead for the album, this rebellious party anthem showcases Miley's vocals over a grilling static instrumental. Paired with the legendary 'SMS (Bangerz)' Britney Spears duet, the duo prepare us for the onslaught of 'F*ck You!!!!' house party songs ahead. Followed by features by Nelly and Future, the lyrics become fun and enjoyable. 'Driving so fast, about to piss on myself' she sings in '4x4'.

Then one of the highlights of the record, Wrecking Ball. One of Miley's most successful singles to date, this ballad was the spark that lit the fire of uproar by the public. The music video featured a naked Cyrus swinging on a wrecking ball, crying and mourning the relationship that she recognised she had a hand in breaking. The power ballad contains the party aspect of the previous 5 tracks, but gives a sense of vulnerability and emotion to what otherwise would be a fun 'IDGAF' typical 2013 pop record.

Up next are some of the albums best songs. '#GETITRIGHT' is a fun, summery sex song, where Miley describes her excitement for intimacy with her partner. Following is 'Drive', arguably one of the best deep cuts on the record. 'Send me roses I'll just let 'em die' Miley cries on the chorus, fed up with the games played by her ex. The chorus is an infectious cry for respect and love, and is a highlight of the record.

Here the record becomes a slight 2013 cringe-fest, with songs like 'Do My Thang' and 'FU' sounding like shallow attempts at Lady Gaga's 'Swine'. Nevertheless, the record picks up speed again with 'Maybe You're Right', where she describes her relationship with Nick Jonas. The album ends on a high note, with 'Somebody Else' where a trippy trap beat seduces Miley's rapping, where she details how she has changed.

The bonus tracks also hold great substance, with 'Rooting For My Baby' being a highlight of the album, and in my opinion should have replaced 'Do My Thang' as an album track. Reminiscent of Lana Del Rey, she sings of submissiveness and supporting her partner. The fresh vocal layering and acoustic guitar make the track a career highlight, as well as an album one.

Overall, the theme of Bangerz was progression, discovery and image. It did what it needed to do as a Miley Cyrus album, and is overlooked and hated just because of that, it is a Miley Cyrus album. It wasn't made for critical acclaim or awards, instead it created a shift in pop culture and in Miley. A solid album that is a standout from the last decade.

It turned out to be a defiant pop / electro / hip-hop album. The inclinations of country still remain, but this is already a different Miley. Some songs are too shocking and disappointing. "Wrecking Ball" is iconic.

This album aged like a fine wine. Very good production. Her best project after Plastic Hearts and RCA could've managed it much better but they wasted her talent with their messy promo.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm a big Miley fan since Hannah Montana early days, but this album isn't good, it doesn't represent musically who is Miley, the hip hop/R&B/pop vibe doesn't felt like home for her at least in my opinion, I always felt like she was more good at the rock or country.
Besides that, you can find a few good songs here, like ''Wrecking Ball'', ''Maybe You're Right'' and ''Adore You'', and ''4x4'' isn't bad at all if you remove that rapper.
I really hope that Miley won't to an album like Bangerz again.

Eu amava na época que saiu, mas envelheceu mal pra mim. Não consigo ouvir nenhuma além de we can't stop e wrecking ball. Não acho ruins, as músicas do álbum são ótimas só acho que não combina com ela e não mostra todo potencial da voz dela. Minhas favoritas são we cant stop, wrecking ball, FU, drive. 7/10

We get a record that is surprisingly dull, which alternates between syrupy, unremarkable ballads and uptempo tracks that sound like they’ve been assembled by a committee of consultants.

Sometimes, like on the outstanding "Wrecking Ball," the emotion calcifies into catchy, mature hooks, propelled forth by Cyrus' oft-underestimated vocal heft. Then again, the breakup also produced "FU," a dismally adolescent electro-soul duet with French Montana.
